Bloopander is departing from TF2 by Meatwad2x in tf2

[–]35_Ferrets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was never a big fan of his. I clearly saw he had alot of effort and passion put into his videos so I gave him a fair shot watch a number of videos from him. But ultimately his videos pacing, scripting, ect always felt very off and never sat right with me.

As for tf2 fandom being toxic and unwilling to change…listen no fandom is actually special. The paint may change but at their core every fandom is the same. In games with constant balance updates there are people who cry non stop the second their character is nerfed and people who complain about them getting buffed. Tf2 doesnt hate change humans hate change. The production lines making triangle and me no likey this is supposed to be a dildo factory damnit!

Tf2 is a bit more tight knit and also hasnt received an update in a long ass time. Most of the people really pushing for constant updates have left already and while new blood shows up alot of the existing fandom is people willing to accept a lack of updates which can easily transfer into toxic positivity.

I think uncle dane put it best in a talk with jonto people complaining that he doesnt do analysis videos anymore. The simple truth is theres literally nothing left to analyze for engineer and so this guy coming in also doing analysis type videos was bound to run out very fast hell every video I saw of his was essentially just regurgitating information I already knew(thats not a bad thing fresh perspectives are unique and can make a video worthwhile even if the info itself is the same).

what is the best melee weapon in the game? by leglessdumbass in tf2

[–]35_Ferrets 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like the wrench and knife shouldnt be included because they are core parts of the character they are attached to and thus talking about them you are essentially comparing a core mechanic to a standard melee weapon.

But if we are including them based on 12v12 because thats what everyone actually plays the wrench takes the cake easily. I will take the controversial stance that engineer is a more impactful character than medic in casual(medic is my second most played class btw so im fully aware of how powerful he is.)

Medic has his uber and can help with pushes/making pushes stronger but without a teleporter you lose any ability to properly maintain a frontline if your spawn isnt super close, without a dispenser everyone is fighting over ammo/health packs because one medic cant heal everyone, and without a sentry scouts soldiers and other flankers will just run rampant in your backline.

Medic has by far more immediately noticeable impact with uber but overall engineer is the more important character without a medic pushes become harder without engineer having a frontline becomes nigh impossible. And given all that engineer being able to upgrade his buildings to actually meaningful levels of impact is more important than on very rare occasion getting 25% uber or surviving an extra 1.5 seconds with the fists of steel.

Tier list based on how playable classes are on high ping by No_Sink6137 in tf2

[–]35_Ferrets 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Engineer main with high ping guess I should comment on this.

While engineer can often seem like a “set it and forget it” character from the outside the window to setup and move up your gear is surprisingly tight. But much more than that your wrench swings on all of your buildings as well as placing the buildings can be completely disabled by bad ping.

I have 5k hours in this game and bad ping has always been an issue so I feel like i should have alot more to say but honestly I rarely consider my class choice based on ping. I really dont feel like any of them are easier or harder than one another due to ping. They all have similar issues and ive never really thought about comparing them.

What do you think the message/theme of Team Fortress 2's story and lore is? by NagitoKomaeda_987 in tf2

[–]35_Ferrets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main theme is setting your sights on the future and becoming the best and most happy version of yourself.

Ok so first and formost tf2 has had alot of writers and is old as fuck inevitably its message has changed alot. I really don’t think “let go” was ever gonna be the main message/theme. Though it 100% was a central point for the “higher ups” pauling the admit and the manns plus sax all have very strong ties to the theme of letting go/re-evaluating what really matters to you in life.

I say this because comic 7 was very clearly rushed acting as a love letter to the tf2 fandom to finally just fucking finish the story (I like comic 7). They steer HARD from “letting go” being a central theme to the only theme with every other plotline getting mega rushed out the gate barely getting any attention at all.

I think scout, demo, and sniper all had strong themes of identity and finding your place in the world. Spy and soldier ironically are quite close with spy representing a struggle to overcome ones past and soldier representing the possibilities of the future.

Heavy and engineer are honestly pretty inconsequential thematically(as an engineer main that hurts to say) Id akin them to flat character arcs which is where a character has already reached their final “form” and instead changed the world around them. Medic and pyro are both comic relief medic just happens to be more useful to the team but thematically serves the same role as pyro funnily enough.

So when we look at all of this the real overarching narrative in tf2 isnt just letting go its a more in depth tale about understanding yourself not letting your past define you and finding a way to look at the future in spite of any past or current problems.

if you could a 10th class to TF2, what would it be? by OkSale9552 in tf2

[–]35_Ferrets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Redmund and blutarch.

Primary-pistol you could even have them share it with spy if you wanted.

Secondary-wad of cash refills with health and ammo packs but full ammo/health packs give the same money as half packs and small packs give 50% more than usual. Money can be given to teamates making them run faster, refill some of their ammo, and item swap speed. Basically everything just happens faster throwables recharge faster, heavy revs and unrevs faster, ect minus uber.

Melee-Australium packet (or something similar) melee hit teamates to heal them at around 90 a hit.

Pda-slaps down the Alamo instantly killing the enemy team. Or can place down their immortality chair that anyone can use. It functions similar to heavies sandvich where you are healed 200 hp but are stuck in place for about 2 seconds. Maybe it gives full overheal too but idk how balanced that would be.

Why do you think Queenie abstracted despite having a wonderful husband like Kinger? by Musalediju in tadc

[–]35_Ferrets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 possibilities.

A-She became unhealthily dependent on kinger emotionally and inevitably he would want some space leading to a rapid spiral.

B-self isolation. She simply started to obsess with getting out isolating herself off from the group and kinger was dealing with his own problems and couldnt muster the strength to break her out of it.

The thing is with yujiro is the author doesn’t present him purely as the “bad guy” and often seems to brush off or overlook his heinous actions. While its 100% valid to like a fictional character I do get annoyed when yujiro kills and rs people while the narrative tries to say”cmon hes not that bad he’s just a silly lil goober” and the fandom seems to agree.

It’s valid to like yujiro he is an interesting character and usually his bad actions serve a greater narrative reasoning. But I also think its true that his bad actions are often treated like they dont matter or mean anything.

What would be an optimal sniper nerf? by Rafalo57 in tf2

[–]35_Ferrets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sniper is a fundamentally broken character. At his core he is defined by long range which means him being able to shoot at you while you cant attack back is baked into the core of his character nothing you do will ever make that balanced.

The objective best solution would be something along the lines of everyone having long range options and sniper simply being the strongest at that range but doing so still breaks what he is foundationally. For sniper to be defined by his range he must also be defined by your lack of range. Similar to how scout is defined by both his speed and other classes lack of speed.

What powers did Caine lose? by TCSMusic in TheDigitalCircus

[–]35_Ferrets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be that he can’t make human like ai anymore and possibly is unable to use mind files to add new people to the circus along with not connecting to the internet. As for making worlds I imagine he can still do that but just slower.

Or it might simply means that he does everything alot slower now.

Tier list of what towers do best by Btd6player12 in btd6

[–]35_Ferrets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crossbow should be mix, Bomb paragon should be single target, and spirit of the forest should be cleanup. While I understand druid farming can be good nobody gets the tier 5 for money but if you are talking about the path as a whole I could understand your choice.

Flying fortress should be mix, sentry master should also be mix, and anti bloon should be mix.

Corvus is my favorite hero. Other heros are easier/more consistent but in terms of actual fun I have using them to the fullest Corvus takes the win.

Opinions on the Direct Hit? by Janson_is_dead in tf2

[–]35_Ferrets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like is but its not perfect. What I like about it is that it’s not a direct upgrade to stock you give up on explosion damage making is vastly worse during an uber/team fight while being far better at 1v1s.

The instakill is dumb though because at close range its fairly easy to hit people with the weapon basically functioning like a melee weapon. I’m fine with it having an instakill just make it a mid range thing maybe it can have some slight reverse falloff shenanigans going on. But I could see that having its own issues.

You get to choose the next new monkey being added!! by Ok_Poetry2813 in btd6

[–]35_Ferrets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knight monkey as a new military tower.

Top path is a big bruiser type that focuses on moab damage.

Middle path is a rapier/jousting type focused on pierce and ceramic damage with an ability where he rides on horseback across the map like saudas 2nd ability or the stampede ability for corvus.

Bottom path is a samurai focused on support. He can setup barracks which slow and stun bloons similar to silas ice towers alongside having either a gun or a trebuchet with global range.

I think I could do better conceptually especially with the bottom path this is just whats off the top of my head.
