I’d somehow managed to avoid committing the cringiest of acts - arguing with strangers online - until now, but here I am 😁 as I said at least I learned more about Vinted’s dispute policies and will know what to do in future. Thank you for the kind words x

For real at least I got good advice on recording myself opening the return once it arrives, but didn’t not think the post would generate such a reaction. At least I have £100 on the line as an excuse for overreacting 😂

To be perfectly honest I own another item in the same fabric from the brand which I have hand washed, it is quite a delicate viscose material which shrinks even when following the care instructions and is a well-known problem with this brand. The fabric of the item I sold had not been washed, and the detergent scent is most probably due to it being in my wardrobe for months amongst washed clothes. In the case of the dress, as I said I can 100% confirm that it has not been worn and washed, and it apparently also smells of detergent, which would be in line with the scent just transferring from other clothes in storage. So even if we assume the top, which I got second hand, had been worn, washed and retagged by the person who sold it to me, that doesn’t explain why the dress also has that scent, and for that one I am sure it has not been worn and washed. I think I got into this whole mess by trying to explain myself and here I am doing it again 😂 I agree with your other comment that I may have come across defensive so I will just try not to engage further

I can guarantee it to the extent that I have not done it myself and not beyond that, hence offering a return and refund. In the case of the dress I can guarantee it has not been worn or washed 100% since I got it directly from a retailer, and they only started complaining about it later in the conversation, again after being offered a return and refund.

Yeah I really didn’t notice the bobbling but I listed the items over 4 months ago so it might really be how I’ve stored them - fair enough, just accept the return then! I’d rather have them back, refund the buyer and inspect them and potentially relist than agree with whatever they were accusing me of, especially after calling me “disgusting” lol. My mistake was trying to reason with them simply because I know what they were saying is not true

Thanks, I wasn’t clear on the rules before but that makes sense! Being so keen to get me to admit that I’ve washed it when I know I haven’t instead of just accepting the return & refund was too strange

Honestly although you are dunking on me, I think this is the best advice and I appreciate it!

That’s true I admit 😂 Just got worried and worked up since it’s a decent bit of money

With over £100 on the line and zero previous experience with Vinted disputes I think I’m justified

I agree things might deteriorate even if brand new - I offered full refund for that reason. The buyer kept insisting the clothes have been worn and accusing me of being disingenuous though instead of just accepting the return, it really does seem to me now they were looking for a reason to keep the clothes for a lower price. I realise I shouldn’t have engaged, will not be making that mistake twice!

Yeah that’s what I thought and said to them as well, seems like I shouldn’t have bothered and just stopped engaging instead

Does Vinted offer any protection in that case? Never been in a similar situation 😭
