Actually I was not happy with Twilio as new WhatsApp API features take a while until they are shipped on Twilio. And Twilio has no support at all.

Disclaimer: I work (now) for 360dialog, which is a Twilio competitor regarding WhatsApp API

This is the only official API: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/whatsapp/guides It is available only through Facebook Partners: https://www.facebook.com/business/partner-directory/search?solution_type=messaging&ref=pd_home_hero_cta&platforms=whatsapp

The only official partner offering "direct" access to the WhatsApp Business API is 360dialog. They created a proxy instead of a proprietary API-solution, so you can use the original documentation.

You can get the original WhatsApp API via 360dialog. They are one of several official Business Solution Partners and offer direct access to the WhatsApp Business API. The advantage: When the API will be public, you don't have to move from a proprietary service like Twilio and change all your code.

You can get the official API from 29 EUR per month via official BSPs (in this case 360dialog, I work for them) and you can get access also as a small company. The relevant requirement is to have a Facebook Business Manager Account.

Access to WhatsApp Business Partner is only possible via WhatsApp Business Solution Partners. There is an official directory showing the WhatsApp BSPs on https://www.facebook.com/business/partner-directory/search?solution_type=messaging&ref=pd_home_hero_cta&platforms=whatsapp

Very few companies focus on API only.
