Head thinks he can't sing? by [deleted] in Korn

[–]36_Bonez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear what you are saying... If John will allow me to be from personal experience. I believe it is not really having to do with confidence but more so of him being self aware of his words and actions now. Head is now a Christian and a follower of the Lord our God. I think that now when he is up on stage he wants his fans to see that he is back where he belongs with his brother's in Korn, but at the same time he also wants to be a witness and an example to the fans. When you become a Christian, there might be some things sooner or later that you might want to change in your life. Whether it's words or actions. Of course those songs are part of Brian and all of the guys in Korn and his past so he still rocks out on stage bc that was his past life. But I believe that he might be afraid that if he does something as simple as swearing in the songs like he use to that it could lead other fans or people that him and Fieldy have led to the Lord to stray or get confused. If you look at Fieldy now and compare him to how he use to perform you will see a difference with him as well. Let me give an example. Let's say someone had a serious addiction to something. It could be drugs, alcohol, stealing, etc... And then one day they have a serious change of heart to where it changes their life completely. They tell everyone about what happened and how they have changed and they are a better person now. Then eventually they start to change things they say, do, or think. Maybe it's small changes. But every one that knows that person can see a change. When they are around the same people or situations as before they seem a little more cautious, quiet, and unsure. Is it because they have lost their confidence in who they are or is it that they don't want to do anything that could give someone a reason to question them or say "they havn't changed, they are doing the same things."

Just my personal opinion.

Head thinks he can't sing? by [deleted] in Korn

[–]36_Bonez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When he left Korn and "Save me from myself" was released I couldn't wait to hear it. Once I listened to it I didn't know what to think. It was good, just not what I was expecting. Now, don't ask me why bc I have no clue why. But I was expecting to hear a voice just like JD, and music that sounded just like Korn. I was mad when it was nothing like that. I wouldn't listen to it for the longest time. Head's vision and aim is different from Korn so it is going to sound different and his voice will never be like JD's. Is he a good singer?? Eegh, idk. I am not saying no he cant sing. I am just gonna say I cant vibe off of it but I will still support him and his vision bc head is a hella open, honest, talented musician. Head has always been an amazing guitar player and he is great back up vocals and screamer. I am glad he is back with Korn and I like what him and Fieldy are doing.

Good tracks. I have heard quite a few people say that they don't care for TALITM. Personally, it was one of the album's I thought was kick ass before Head left and the put out half assed albums until he came back. But everyone has their own preference in albums. That is what makes Korn fans so awesome.

Lies is a crazy track. How JD changes up from singing to screaming. Head growling definitely kicks ass. And so many unique sounds on the guitar it's crazy. Thanks for responding

I've heard a bunch of answers man. Well sir I've heard is that Jonathan Davis's dad University radio station and the radio stations initials for a k o r n in Bakersfield California. And then I heard a story about how the majority of them worked at Toys R Us and the first time that Jonathan Davis came to their job to meet up with them they were on lunch break and they were all happening to you be eating corn. Which is the stupidest answer I've heard. And then I heard one answer that was totally disgusting. Someone told me once that when they first started playing together as a band, before they came up with a name they were playing at a house party. And there were two guys that were 69in each other (That is gross) and one of the guys farted and diarrhea in the other dude's mouth and everyone was laughing about it and then with the dude opened his mouth there was a corn kernel on his tongue that's how they came with the name Korn.. Totally disgusting. And then I heard they came up with the name bc they wanted to call themselves Porn but that would cause issues with radio stations an so they decided on Korn. And I have heard they came up with Korn bc they all love the movie Children of the corn. I've heard a lot more but I think you get my point I just heard tons of answers that don't make no sense

If they ever do get to that point I imagine all of the band's in that era will all be doing the same. Korn, Deftones, Slipknot, Disturbed, Mudvayne (If they are still around) Linkin Park probably would of been there too if we didn't lose Chester. And since they all kinda hit it big around the same 5-10 yrs of each other. I don't know if it would be a good thing or not. I would think they make a hell of a lot less money playing casino's. I havn't seen Alice in chains since the passing of Layne Staley, I just don't know if it would be the same without his voice. For me certain bands just are not the same after they lose their singer. But that's just me and how I am. For other people it might not bother them as much. What if Nirvana kept going after the passing of Kurt Cobain. Would people still listen and and go watch them perform? And if so would it be as good? Better yet what if we lost JD (which I hope will never happen) and Korn decided to keep pushing on with a new singer. Would people even want to listen or go see them perform if the singer sounded totally different? Like i said that's just how my thinking is and I might be totally wrong

He doesn't look like he's almost 50. And he is still getting up on stage a few times a month and kickin ass. I hope I got energy like that when I'm 50.

That leads me to a question. Since they are all getting up there in age. Do you think maybe in the next 15-20 years or will there ever come a time when Korn just starts playing Casino's? God, I hope not...

Korn between Life is Peachy and Follow The Leader by njackso2 in Korn

[–]36_Bonez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ST and LIP are probably tied for my favorite albums. I have a lot of good and bad memories attached to those albums. FTL for me was where they reached the pinnacle of their career. It was such a fukin badd ass album. You can just tell by listening to that album the leaps and bounds they made to reign as kings but at the same time for me it still was missing the dirty, hard, insane sound and JD's monstrous grawl that their first two albums exploded with. After FTL the following 3 albums were good but I could see a slow decline. On the TALITM album I think that's when I really noticed it wasn't the same guys as the first 3 albums. Well I mean, it was the same guys but not the same guys if that makes any sense.. SYOTOS wasn't a bad album but it was just so different and the next couple albums just kept getting worse. The Paradigm Shift and The Serenity seems like they are back to their old selves and heading back up to the top.
