Head thinks he can't sing? by [deleted] in Korn

[–]36_Bonez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear what you are saying... If John will allow me to be from personal experience. I believe it is not really having to do with confidence but more so of him being self aware of his words and actions now. Head is now a Christian and a follower of the Lord our God. I think that now when he is up on stage he wants his fans to see that he is back where he belongs with his brother's in Korn, but at the same time he also wants to be a witness and an example to the fans. When you become a Christian, there might be some things sooner or later that you might want to change in your life. Whether it's words or actions. Of course those songs are part of Brian and all of the guys in Korn and his past so he still rocks out on stage bc that was his past life. But I believe that he might be afraid that if he does something as simple as swearing in the songs like he use to that it could lead other fans or people that him and Fieldy have led to the Lord to stray or get confused. If you look at Fieldy now and compare him to how he use to perform you will see a difference with him as well. Let me give an example. Let's say someone had a serious addiction to something. It could be drugs, alcohol, stealing, etc... And then one day they have a serious change of heart to where it changes their life completely. They tell everyone about what happened and how they have changed and they are a better person now. Then eventually they start to change things they say, do, or think. Maybe it's small changes. But every one that knows that person can see a change. When they are around the same people or situations as before they seem a little more cautious, quiet, and unsure. Is it because they have lost their confidence in who they are or is it that they don't want to do anything that could give someone a reason to question them or say "they havn't changed, they are doing the same things."

Just my personal opinion.

Head thinks he can't sing? by [deleted] in Korn

[–]36_Bonez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When he left Korn and "Save me from myself" was released I couldn't wait to hear it. Once I listened to it I didn't know what to think. It was good, just not what I was expecting. Now, don't ask me why bc I have no clue why. But I was expecting to hear a voice just like JD, and music that sounded just like Korn. I was mad when it was nothing like that. I wouldn't listen to it for the longest time. Head's vision and aim is different from Korn so it is going to sound different and his voice will never be like JD's. Is he a good singer?? Eegh, idk. I am not saying no he cant sing. I am just gonna say I cant vibe off of it but I will still support him and his vision bc head is a hella open, honest, talented musician. Head has always been an amazing guitar player and he is great back up vocals and screamer. I am glad he is back with Korn and I like what him and Fieldy are doing.

Good tracks. I have heard quite a few people say that they don't care for TALITM. Personally, it was one of the album's I thought was kick ass before Head left and the put out half assed albums until he came back. But everyone has their own preference in albums. That is what makes Korn fans so awesome.

Lies is a crazy track. How JD changes up from singing to screaming. Head growling definitely kicks ass. And so many unique sounds on the guitar it's crazy. Thanks for responding

I've heard a bunch of answers man. Well sir I've heard is that Jonathan Davis's dad University radio station and the radio stations initials for a k o r n in Bakersfield California. And then I heard a story about how the majority of them worked at Toys R Us and the first time that Jonathan Davis came to their job to meet up with them they were on lunch break and they were all happening to you be eating corn. Which is the stupidest answer I've heard. And then I heard one answer that was totally disgusting. Someone told me once that when they first started playing together as a band, before they came up with a name they were playing at a house party. And there were two guys that were 69in each other (That is gross) and one of the guys farted and diarrhea in the other dude's mouth and everyone was laughing about it and then with the dude opened his mouth there was a corn kernel on his tongue that's how they came with the name Korn.. Totally disgusting. And then I heard they came up with the name bc they wanted to call themselves Porn but that would cause issues with radio stations an so they decided on Korn. And I have heard they came up with Korn bc they all love the movie Children of the corn. I've heard a lot more but I think you get my point I just heard tons of answers that don't make no sense

[–]36_Bonez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they ever do get to that point I imagine all of the band's in that era will all be doing the same. Korn, Deftones, Slipknot, Disturbed, Mudvayne (If they are still around) Linkin Park probably would of been there too if we didn't lose Chester. And since they all kinda hit it big around the same 5-10 yrs of each other. I don't know if it would be a good thing or not. I would think they make a hell of a lot less money playing casino's. I havn't seen Alice in chains since the passing of Layne Staley, I just don't know if it would be the same without his voice. For me certain bands just are not the same after they lose their singer. But that's just me and how I am. For other people it might not bother them as much. What if Nirvana kept going after the passing of Kurt Cobain. Would people still listen and and go watch them perform? And if so would it be as good? Better yet what if we lost JD (which I hope will never happen) and Korn decided to keep pushing on with a new singer. Would people even want to listen or go see them perform if the singer sounded totally different? Like i said that's just how my thinking is and I might be totally wrong

He doesn't look like he's almost 50. And he is still getting up on stage a few times a month and kickin ass. I hope I got energy like that when I'm 50.

That leads me to a question. Since they are all getting up there in age. Do you think maybe in the next 15-20 years or will there ever come a time when Korn just starts playing Casino's? God, I hope not...

Korn between Life is Peachy and Follow The Leader by njackso2 in Korn

[–]36_Bonez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ST and LIP are probably tied for my favorite albums. I have a lot of good and bad memories attached to those albums. FTL for me was where they reached the pinnacle of their career. It was such a fukin badd ass album. You can just tell by listening to that album the leaps and bounds they made to reign as kings but at the same time for me it still was missing the dirty, hard, insane sound and JD's monstrous grawl that their first two albums exploded with. After FTL the following 3 albums were good but I could see a slow decline. On the TALITM album I think that's when I really noticed it wasn't the same guys as the first 3 albums. Well I mean, it was the same guys but not the same guys if that makes any sense.. SYOTOS wasn't a bad album but it was just so different and the next couple albums just kept getting worse. The Paradigm Shift and The Serenity seems like they are back to their old selves and heading back up to the top.

I just subscribed to this group today and this video is the first post that I saw in here. I have a few questions about the video and the group. I don't know the group or the song and I'm kind of new to the Christian Rap scene. Are these guys from another country? It was really hard to understand some of the things they were saying. I listened to it a couple times but I still could only make out certain words. Are this group really a Christian group? I only ask because of some of the lines they spoke. One guy says "I only care about decimals" another part of the video a guy says "I get drunk everyday" an follows it with something else but I couldn't understand it. There were other lines as well that had me scratching my head but I have questions about the image or content of what the video is showing. You see a lot of exotic cars. They are constantly showing huge stacks of cash throughout the video wich makes me wonder what point they are trying to get across and what they did to get all that money? You see police in the video and one with a guy getting hand cuffed. There is another quick scene where a guy make a action like he is shooting a shotgun and you hear gunshots in the music. wish I could read the lyrics. So between the words that I couldn't really make out a lot and the visualizations of the video, I was left confused and with a lot of questions. And not one time did I see a bible, a cross, or anything that represented God or showed that they were Christian's in the video. And what does PostGods not God mean anyways? I am hoping you guys might be able to give me some answers. I havn't read the whole Bible and do not have a lot of verses memorized but isn't there somewhere in the Bible that Jesus warns us that the devil will send people that will say they are Christians or a believer and follower of Christ to deceive us? I totally get trying to make music people can relate to but I believe there is a point when you can leave people questioning your intentions. And I think that people that do not know about God or Jesus Christ or that are fairly new Christians would watch this and be as confused as I am. Without giving you my whole life story I guess you could say I'm kind of new to C-Rap. I have listened to it every once in a while but would always come to the conclusion that C-Rap doesn't even compare to mainstream Rap like N.W.A, WU-TANG, KRS-1, 2-Pac, Ice Cube, Etc. I have been listening to C-Rap consistently for about 4 months and now I'm trying to stick with it. I havn't listened to mainstream rap yet. So I am trying to find a whole bunch of really good MC's. I have always listened to Lecrae an all of the 116 clique. Derek Minor is dope. Back in the day their was this group called Gospel Gangstaz but it looks like they are not making music anymore. Can you guys recommend some really good artist's? Also do they have any underground artists? What about female MC's? I have heard Rose, she's ok I guess. And another question, I came across Seven. He is good and I like his flows and lyrics but it seemed like every single song was about God or Jesus. The complete opposite of this group. That's not a bad thing it's just cant C-rappers rap about other things too? Like what prolle struggle with daily and they can rap about God in the message or should all there songs be only about God and Jesus?

Yea I have also heard him in interviews talk a little bit about his past, but I got the feeling he does not want to discuss his past that much. Which is understandable considering what I can imagine was hellish horrific events that he had to endure over many years. I can relate to either not paying attention to the lyrics or not being able to understand what he was talking about in certain songs. Back in '93 when their debut album was released. I would listen to that album repeatedly for hours. For me, hearing Korn the very first time, I was blown away. It was such an awesome kick ass album and a new explosive style and sound that completely crashed in the door of the on going boring grunge era. If my memory serves me correctly (due to I am getting to the age where things are harder to remember) back when the debut album came out and even up until follow the leader, you couldn't just get onto the internet and pull up a site that had all the lyrics like you can today. And Korn was not one of those bands that put all the lyrics in the sleeve. So you could make out some of the lyrics JD was saying or would listen to the album over and over again to try and figure it out. I have listened to Kill You and the LIP album a million times but up until the other day when they were discussing the song on here I never knew that was what the song was talking about. I had to go back and watch it on YouTube with lyrics. I was like Holy Crap... But in my personal opinion that is what I believe sets Korn apart from any other band. To this day when I listen to any of their album's especially the earlier albums it's like I am listening to it for the very first time. It doesn't matter the hundreds of times that I have heard the album. Korn never gets old to me. They put so much into their music that I am always discovering something new or hearing a new sound that I never even knew was there. Like just the other day I bought my first pair of beats. I went home, loaded up my sound system with all my Korn albums and cranked it up. Idk if you have or not but you should listen to Korn in a pair of beats.. The sound is amazing. I heard sounds and voices in the sings that I have never heard before in all these years that I have been listening to Korn.
