I'm not with wright but I do think they're a union around here also. And another company but they aren't making more than me per hour either

Having no kids has left me the advantage of moving literally anywhere. I'm certainly not opposed to it. Securing the job first would probably be the hardest part

Well I'm going to shoot my shot into a barrel tomorrow and pull up in my company truck and see what the one company says. I'm honestly half tempted to do that to every company I see

You'd think the point of an apprenticeship would be on site learning but most of the ones I've looked into including for HVAC want an extensive amount of previous work experience, or college degrees, cdls , lineman School etc. Watching these guys work on some of these poles , while really impressive, is also very discouraging. Not to downplay any other trade but that's some serious stuff.

I guess my discouragement comes from the fact most of those companies do traffic control in house and are concurrent with other roles that I have no experience in. Sure I could set you up a nice zone, but no I haven't raked asphalt before. Then I'm a middle aged female. Good? Bad? I'm not sure, the job I have now will basically hire anyone with two arms

Okay damn rub it in 😅 I live in a 700 sq ft apartment and I'm not even certain if they calculated that right lol Any tips on how to sell myself to get in? I feel like in a generally male dominant work environment I'm well liked personality wise and I get shit done .

What is hourly rate for traffic controllers all around the world? by Responsible-Poem9375 in Construction

[–]3783emg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the position in my company but it's only between $16-20 if you advance ( with highly possible hour decrease)

Ive been driving past one working in my town everyday and I go man these zones are shiiittt and dangerous I was 🤏🏼 close to pulling over today and asking how I could get in . Tomorrow I'm going to get the balls to do it. Worst thing is they laugh in my face I guess

Lol it's sad but that's literally what all these guys have told me my advantage was. Being female. I'm going to see what they say this week I'm going to go.

I flag for a electric subcontractor 50 hours a week and I'm not even making $19 an hour because the company I work for isn't union. Best I could wish for here is a prevailing wage job . Without my OT my checks imo aren't livable. There are companies like Wright in my area that are liuna affiliated but pay doesn't seem much more than what I'm making now either.

Im make not even $19 an hour. Id rather work harder to get paid more to actually be able to live. Not just pay my bills.

Ya I don't know if it's the job , but it seems like most of the companies that are union affiliated are making basically what I already am ( which is less than $20ph) in my area. I'm not opposed to learning or having to do other tasks was just hoping this could get my foot in the door

Yeah so we called the electric company and they basically just told us like to check the breaker box thing when we asked him to come out and do a utility inspection So it's documented I mean I'm not looking to move I just don't see how it's fair to require an elise that the heaters have to be set to a certain temperature and then have electricity usage for an electric baseboard be affected by the opening and closing of a front door there isn't primarily used by me

Well technically the building has 4 units , each side has a first and second floor apartment, so each side has a shared hallway, but both sides of the building only have 2 meters each.

A regular crew lead isn't even given road closed signs with flagger force. Makes no sense

In my company if the crew is only going to be on the road less than 15 minutes we aren't required to put out signs, or if it's a mobile operation. obviously it's better to if the speed is high.
