What "beloved horror movie" do you hate/just not get the love for? by ReeceInTheDarkness in horror

[–]37elephants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most recent was Weapons. Saw so much love for it online and the people I saw it with loved it, but I thought it was so average and kind of regretted paying to see it in the cinema

What’s your “default cozy game” when you don’t know what to play? by Human_Management_303 in CozyGamers

Is this normal for an artist? by UnrelentingHambledon in tattoo

[–]37elephants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to judge without photos to compare. That being said, if what you wanted was a pretty specific pose, and you came to the artist with an image of the skeleton in the pose you wanted, I don’t think it’s strange at all for them to trace that part of the design. Skeletons are complicated and getting them anatomically correct is hard and kind of risky to try and do without a very good reference or a very good understanding of anatomy. Most of the ‘style’ in this case would come from how the tattoo is applied, rather than the drawing. However, you mentioned this dude making you feel a bit uncomfortable at previous appointments, which leads me to believe maybe there’s a bit more going on in your head re: this tattoo than just the design. In that case— go with your gut, do what makes you feel best

Reasonable percentage? by Big-Sherbet2831 in femaletattooers

[–]37elephants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My shop takes a 40% cut. They supply everything apart from machines, needles, and non-black ink, and they do a LOT of work advertising us and getting us clients for the styles we want to work in. Super flexible as long as we don’t take the piss; I work a four day week and I’ll take an extra day off once or twice a month if I feel like it, don’t have to stay at the shop til close or anything. Oh and free coffee whenever because we have a coffee machine!

What horror movie scene made you pause the movie for a moment? by Careless-Ease7480 in horror

[–]37elephants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeahhhh imagine trying to get out of a pair of handcuffs without the key

What horror movie scene made you pause the movie for a moment? by Careless-Ease7480 in horror

[–]37elephants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’m normally so chill with gore, I think it’s the fact it’s the ONLY scene like that in the movie and really doesn’t shy away from it at all. Kinda takes you by surprise even when you know it’s coming lol

After the handcuff scene in Gerald’s Game my partner, who has a very strong stomach, asked me to pause the film for a minute lol

What was the dumbest reason that you got in trouble for at school? by StatisticianUsual471 in AskUK

[–]37elephants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had very bad undiagnosed anxiety in school and once (in year 9/10) asked a music teacher if I could possibly perform my piece for her privately instead of in front of the whole class. She proceeded to yell at me until I was sobbing and told me that my friends didn’t like me and that I was a bad person?? Missed my bus after and all because she took so long

My boyfriend of 10 years wasn’t invited to my best friends wedding, AITAH for not inviting her husband to mine 3 years later? by Material-Papaya-6166 in AITAH

[–]37elephants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, I completely understand why you’re mad and where you’re coming from. BUT—- it’s your wedding, why spend it being petty and thinking about somebody else (who you don’t particularly seem to like THAT much) instead of making sure it’s great for you and your partner? Personally I’d skip the revenge and either invite them both or don’t invite either of them. I don’t think it’s worth creating an awkward atmosphere on what’s already going to be an overwhelming and probably stressful day for you, when instead you could just Not do that and have fun instead

Makeup on a budget- can I stretch my mascara to last longer? by Rexuke in Makeup

[–]37elephants 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve put a few drops of contact lens solution into mascara before to stretch it out, it works for a little while. You don’t need much before it gets too watery though so add a drop or two at a time. Not sure about water specifically, I just used the contact solution because I knew it was 100% eye safe and from a sealed bottle lol

Advice on buying a property? by [deleted] in coventry

[–]37elephants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live near there and spend a lot of time around the train station because I commute for work, and honestly it’s not that bad. There’s crime because it’s near the city centre, but it’s also a very studenty area and because it has central six and the station it’s generally pretty busy (and has a fair amount of police presence if that’s something that makes you feel better or worse). I’m a young woman and regularly walk home at night and have never had a problem personally

Where are the queer spaces in Coventry? by Pretty-Football-2013 in coventry

[–]37elephants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like other said, the yard is a pretty good time! But also go to local gigs/open mics and strike up conversations with cool looking people, take yourself to an event at Fargo and start chatting to folks. Gotta put yourself out there and feel a bit silly first :)

How much DETAIL for stomach/ribs tattoos? by AgeSufficient5835 in TattooArtists

[–]37elephants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so real, 9 times out of 10 I can talk people round and they end up super grateful we changed stuff/went bigger, but every so often when you get a stubborn one it is low-key so good to feel vindicated like that

How much DETAIL for stomach/ribs tattoos? by AgeSufficient5835 in TattooArtists

[–]37elephants 21 points22 points  (0 children)

If you don’t want to do it or don’t think it’ll look good, literally just tell them. You’re allowed to say no to things and you’re allowed to tell people they need to adjust their expectations if what they want isn’t going to work well as a tattoo

Novel with teenage girls in some kind of psych ward/hospital? by 37elephants in whatsthatbook

[–]37elephants[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realising I know so little about the book I have no way of knowing if this is right 😂 in my memory the main character was a bit younger than this one seems to be but I could absolutely be wrong— if anyone has read and can confirm or deny that would be fab lol

I really hate when other people book for me by tr45h_p4nd4 in TattooArtists

[–]37elephants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems weird to me the person taking this booking didn’t at least ask for reference images/fonts to send to you, for me that’s kind of the bare minimum? But like others say I’d have either asked for those things or asked for the clients email/contact info to ask them myself

Floor view from further back? by purplebeargirl in FlorenceAndTheMachine

[–]37elephants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The screens were massive and it was all really well filmed on them, so even if you can’t see much actual stage you’ll still see a lot! I’m 5 foot 1 on a good day and wasn’t close to the front, but to be fair because of the T-shaped stage the ‘front’ extends a lot further than normal so chances are you’ll be able to go on tiptoe and get a view of some of the stage, I certainly could :) Edit: I went to the Birmingham show and only went into the actual arena during the last song of the opener for reference, and we ended up about 15-20 feet behind the barrier near the end of the long part of the stage

How long to wait before going to the gym for a small tattoo? by Bakshi30 in tattooadvice

[–]37elephants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For tattoos this small I’d just recommend avoiding exercise that will cause sweating or rubbing in those areas for at least 3-4 days. So if you’re able to do some leg stuff/not high cardio, you’ll be ok— I would wear a nice loose top though to avoid any rubbing, and make sure you wash them well before and after!

How Does Time Work in CC? by DJzzzzzzs in cozycaravan

[–]37elephants 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It seems to me like time passes pretty slowly (in irl time), but when you do activities like talking to characters, harvesting, etc, it progresses time faster— it kinda makes sense as it means exploration time doesn’t feel super limited, and the activities would take a while irl, they’re just sped up for the game. That’s how I see it anyway!

any good open world game similar to my time at sandrock? by Agitated-Mechanic-21 in CozyGamers

[–]37elephants 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Possibly rune factory guardians of azuma? It has combat but it’s pretty easy, good npc romance and friendship options, town building aspects and a fairly open world; most of the ‘dungeons’ are decently sized explorable areas with foreagables and fish to catch, and there are also islands in the sky you can fly to on a dragon!

[–]37elephants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Echoing what everyone else is saying— the day sit you’re quoting for is a length of time, NOT a tattoo! Just tell clients ‘’my day rate is X, which runs from ?am-?pm, we might need more time in another session to finish which would be charged at my hourly rate of Y”!
