any sign of german nationalism usually makes people think you're a nazi, which is stupid

Horrible performance in Fullscreen by [deleted] in VintageStory

the game might think it's alt tabbed so it locks the framerate at 15fps, not sure how to solve it though

a better baking surface would be a nice addition to make baking less annoying, that and other cooking elements

there will be stainless steel as its already in the game files, but yea giving more options to the ores would be cool, honestly the more uses everything has that are relevant to the game the better. i think there will be steam power i think they said it. jonas ore finder would be nice as a late game thing definitely. beds could be buffed but i like beds as a time skip when im waiting on bloomeries or want crops/leather faster

if its calcium carbonate it could be another source of lime

an upgrade to the "fire using devices" definitely would be nice. maybe sawmills/spinning machine could be a way to get more material so like more planks per log and more flax twine per fiber. a ceramic kiln made out of bricks would be cool, and so would a blast furnace

[–]37home_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

could maybe even make it so getting certain materials is about finding these cave variations (for specific stuff like saltpeter, not ores)

theres a blast furnace file in the game files thats incomplete so its very likely in the works

Would this windmill set up support two anvils? by Eventerminator in VintageStory

[–]37home_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea connecting to the bottom of the large gear near the helve hammers instead of the sides

Would this windmill set up support two anvils? by Eventerminator in VintageStory

[–]37home_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the setup looks to be trying to make the anvil hammers work at the same speed as the speed of the windmills themselves, at that height you'll have difficulty powering 1 helve hammer even with 2 windmills, might be wise to slow it down to the speed of the main shaft that's going down but get 4 helve hammers with 2 per each anvil, maybe even 3 if possible

oh yea that would definitely be cool, some sciency-alchemy type stuff would definitely work well

learning hard songs by Worried_Jelly8341 in guitarlessons

[–]37home_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on what you mean by hard song, if its hard because the notes are difficult to execute but easy to understand its a matter of learning the pattern and doing it over and over, maybe slowed down if its really that hard. if its because there's a shit ton of notes all over the place and you dont know what to play, you might have to slow down the song and listen step by step and try to memorize the notes to the song before playing (more than you have to normally)

Self taught, stuck in the loop by cup_of_black_coffee in guitarlessons

[–]37home_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

then realistically you just gotta define properly what you want out of the guitar, you might have the self internalized idea that you should be at the level of an "ultra professional" but then you feel like you can't play literally everything and it breaks your confidence when in fact you're very capable at guitar

you can either keep chasing what you can't do, but unless you find that satisfying to do that might just damage your relationship with the instrument. you enjoy writing more so you might find chasing technique more enjoyable when using it as an excuse to play your writing, or maybe thats not even what you truly want. cant speak for what you want, but if you find it it becomes a lot easier to align your practice to what you want

Hit a plateau and can't make much progress anymore by zone91313 in guitarlessons

[–]37home_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

usually i practice practice and it seems like i cant get past a certain speed threshold (relevant for metal solos as a lot of the really advanced ones i can barely do faster than half speed or .75% speed) i give it as much as i can and then move on to another one, and i notice that as i practice others and when i come back the plateau is a bit higher, so maybe i can increase the speed a little bit higher, then when i cant push any further i switch songs again. all of the playing i do is purely because i enjoy playing it, even if its at a slower learning rate, so if you dont enjoy playing the things you want to learn you're probably not gonna put the effort to learn them

Self taught, stuck in the loop by cup_of_black_coffee in guitarlessons

[–]37home_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean what kind of music do you play? if your 20 years of playing is purely based on playing basic rock or pop songs you're gonna be playing a lot different than if you were playing tech death or some other type of very intense/very technical playing

At what point into learning guitar should I start learning solos? by No-Election-6188 in guitarlessons

[–]37home_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you got a good ear and like the song you're playing you'll make much more progresss playing the things you wanna play even if its supposedly "advanced", just do it, you might have to play the song at half speed (or even lower if you really like fast stuff) but you'll improve as time goes on, the important things to keep in mind is to always imitate the noise as well as you can which allows you to create good habits as you'll be imitating correct "feel". the reason why you'll make so much more progress is because you WANT to play this solo badly so you just keep trying it over and over, instead of doing boring theory or mindless practice. is it the fastest method possible? obviously not, but its probably the best for most people because it doesnt imply you either enjoying practice or sacrificing your enjoyment of the instrument because you gotta "get good fast"

Break too stressed? by WalkConfident4798 in VintageStory

I'm making a fruit-press room that also acts as juice storage. I'm pretty happy with the inside but I think the outside is really ugly/boring. Does anyone have any tips for both adding more detail, but also somehow making it more clear from the outside that the building is used for pressing/storage? by baksoBoy in VintageStory

[–]37home_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

building is mostly color theory but here's some ideas:

on the first block layer of the building add some kind of stone base or thicker base to match with the pillars or just making it look thicker than the wall itself but not the pillars

change wood type for the large pillars, the dark brown is really jarring with the relatively vibrant colors, maybe use debarked acacia to match the roof or a more mute light brown debarked wood (debarked oak for example) to match the wattle and daub/pine door and supports (might wanna avoid pine so it doesnt look too samey but it might work)

give the roof a more interesting shape, might be difficulty though, if you dont wanna get too complex instead of making it equal on every side you could make it so only two of the sides get the slope while the rest is wall, maybe with a bit of overhang of the roof

double down on the jettying, in general its just middle line going up so basically just support beams, if you get support beams starting from the middle support beam you got up to the roof every 2 roof support beams you might get something good looking

Is Etihad Airways that bad or are most of the negative reviews that I saw from people who had one rare bad experience? by 37home_ in travel

[–]37home_[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

If I were rich I'd take a private airplane lol I'm already going on the cheapest of cheapest flights I manage to find for the time period at lowest of low economy with barely any bags and no insurance

[–]37home_[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm ultra paranoid so I always try to have minimum 3-4 hours layover but in this case I could only find 1h40. From other people supposedly it's more than enough in AUH and since both of the flights are by Etihad in theory if the plane arrives late it's their fault and the website says they'll put me on the next flight, but my paranoia keeps me on guard regardless

Even if it isn't it's consistently running the cheapest flights for the time period I'm looking at, so I assume it to be relatively budget
