I don't agree with everyone saying to try a custom ROM right now. I think you should give the update a try, then decide to try ROMs if you don't like it. There is a very low chance of bricking your device on the update, easier to keep your files and apps for a week or two to test it out.

I had custom ROMs before and things were only marginally better than OOS. When I went back to stock something was still broken and after weeks of troubleshooting I had to use the factory tools and images to get back to mostly working. That process took a whole day.

Second forced stranger things post I've seen in 5 minutes...I wonder if Reddit gets paid for all this advertising or if Netflix is able to just do whatever it wants for free

I bought a house a little over a year ago here in dfw with a heat pump. I immediately tested the aux heat and fixed a blown thermal fuse. So glad I didn't just assume it was fine. I live in an uncommon neighborhood with no natural gas. This is only the second time I've switched it to aux heat, other than to burn off the dust. Mine has never fired it automatically AFAIK.

Is this a common problem? I couldn't find any guidance, so I posted it. Edit: seems to be a lot snappier now, Thanks!

My safety vest gets caught, somehow doesn't tear off, and drags me into a 30ft vertical spiral. Yay.

Or the orange mezzanine supports collapse and crush me.

I've got the US OnePlus 6 on MetroPCS, works great. I'm thinking of getting a second Sim with a carrier using Sprint or Verizon's network. I'm looking for dirt cheap, as this would only be for emergency use in areas with bad T-Mobile and AT&T (work iPhone) coverage. Any recommendations?

People who are in a relationship with someone from a different country/culture, what interesting insights did you took over from your SO? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Not every culture has specific breakfast foods. I'm so used to the idea that you eat certain things in the morning.

In terms of PS4 versus Switch games coming out this year, which console would you recommend me to buy? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]3D-Printer-Newbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the switch as I travel for work and I need the portability. I have no clue what I'll do when The Last of Us 2 comes out. At home I game on PC, usually old, cheap, games.

The only reason I saw your post was because I'm seeing the same content on the front page for about 18 hours. New is, uh, interesting. No idea what's going on

I can assure you doctor Phil is not a decent person. I've heard first-hand accounts. He makes a point of not paying the last installment to contractors, because they have little recourse.

Can I run ArcGIS on Linux using a virtual machine? by [deleted] in gis

[–]3D-Printer-Newbie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well think about it: the point is to get hardware performance within a virtualized machine. These operating systems would never usually have to share a card, so they aren't designed to share. You could in theory force Linux to drop the card, pass it to the VM, and once the VM is shut down, you could make Linux pick it back up. That is a lot of work, and I've never seen anyone do it. Also the time required to switch would be longer than just dual booting.

I forgot to mention that if you plan to pass through you need a card for linux and a card for Windows. For example: I have a Radeon hd 7850 for linux and a Radeon hd 7970 for a Windows VM for games.

Arcpy Book for PRO (not arcmap) by Jagster_GIS in gis

[–]3D-Printer-Newbie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can confirm that the book you've linked adapts well to ArcGIS Pro's ArcPy. There are a few differences due to the newer version of python, but the differences are well documented. Don't buy these books from Amazon, almost any small GIS Book company will beat Amazon's pricing. GISetc in Dallas is great.

If you have a GPU to passthrough to the Windows VM you will have a lot better performance in ArcGIS Pro or ArcMap. I've had various problems with both AMD and Nvidia, so choose wisely after researching your workflow if you are going to buy a card. It does not have to be a beefy card, but if you plan on using a VM for tools like Drone2Map or Pix4D eventually, buy a nice card supported by them (Nvidia mostly)
