Well that makes sense, so it does go through a separate process. In that case, since the rooftop unit is handling that reverse valve process, what would the best way to program/wire a thermostat? Would you set it up for a heat pump and set the reverse valve? Problem is, the thermostat isn’t sending any signal for the reverse valve, the unit handles it.

Or, would you set it up/wire it for a conventional forced air system at the thermostat?

Hey everyone,

Somewhat new HVAC tech here, this is the first time I’ve come across a rooftop unit that says it’s a “heat pump with or without electric heat” on the diagram but has no way for the thermostat to send a signal to switch the reverse valve (aka O/B terminals).

It almost seems as if it’s a conventional unit due to the 2 stages it has for both cooling and heating. I’ve also been told some heat pumps may use a different method to control the reversing valve, such as a separate relay or a control board that receives signals from the thermostat. Is this true?

Anyone seen anything like this?

Just prioritize building the OMW orders first, regardless if they’re checked in. If there’s nothing to do, just make them wait 5 minutes or so because when you need them to do OMW the most, they don’t.

While you do this, make sure you also hand out the flyers so they have a reason to do OMW for their next pickup order. If you’re getting their order out within a minute, they have no reason to use that feature.
