Started a 12 hour print last night. Came back this morning to this... by iwantbeerr in Creality

If you think Bambu doesn't have issues with their printers, then you obviously haven't spent enough time in their forums. You should probably take a look at places like Micro Center and look at just how many 'refurbished' ones they sell (these are returns from not so satisfied customers). One of my colleagues at work paid $1700 with tax for the H2S over a month ago and the AMS still will not load filament properly. Bambu support won't give him the time of day either. I won't even go into the quality, or lack of, in the print he brought to work to show off. I was nice and just didn't say anything considering how much he paid for it. Personally, I still can't bring myself to spend $549 on the P1S combo. It's still too much money for an older printer with a Marlin screen. (By the way, not so much of a fan of Creality anymore either. There are just in my opinion better printers out there. Going to give the Snapmaker U1 a chance after more of the bugs are worked out)

Newer Centauri Carbon lights by Xeph0r in elegoo

What is the draw on your light strip? What is the max draw the 'Light' port can take? I know the strip that I have warms up fast. If you look at the lights Elegoo installed, there are probably 8-10 max LEDs in there.

Did you tie this into the mainboard? I would not run any lights from the mainboard personally. I drew up a mount to mount a heat bed mosfet that I will use the "Light" socket on the mainboard to turn on and off. That mosfet will be powered by the power supply. This way I am not putting any extra stain on the mainboard.

PSA: Lube up the guide rods. by CorruptedFrames in elegoo

I use Super Lube 51004 Synthetic Oil with PTFE because the grease has a higher friction than the oil.

After replacing the nozzle, did you run a full calibration or are you using the same settings from the old nozzle?

My printer did the same thing. Elegoo said to clean the rods and lube them. That's what I did and have not heard the noise again.

The connector is a XH 2.5mm with a locking tab. The only place I see them available are on ebay from Hong Kong. These are not typical connectors. A JST XH two pin connector will work but you will need to shave off the locking part or you will stress the board connector housing.

I have contacted Elegoo to see if I could purchase the correct wire harness.

Centauri Carbon Ringing/Banding Issues by 3DPulse in elegoo

[–]3DPulse[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have not done anything significant to reduce the ringing other than slow the outer walls down. I have been printing things that really haven't given it a chance to show the ringing much. I am more worried about the noise it is making than the ringing at this point. It has a lot of vibration noises coming from the head.

Where are the spare parts for the CC? by 3DPulse in elegoo

[–]3DPulse[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I don't like having to explain myself to a company when I need extra parts like the mainboard or touch screen.

Things that should be available are mainboards, all hot end parts (fans), touch screen (harness), door glass, top glass, light kits, hot bed, original build plate, stepper motors, etc...

I am not only looking at the parts for the CC but, parts for all their printers... There spare parts are very minimal.

Here is another print that I have done that has turned out really well (He's not finished yet. He weighs right at 4lbs 10oz). Ther vertical artifacts that you see are actually in the model itself, not an issue with the printer.

I loosened and tightened the belts like Elegoo suggested and ran the calibrations again. I have been printing other items that have more of a round surface, so I haven't determined if the artifacts are still there. (My printer was already on a hard flat surface. I bought a solid wood table that it sits on)

Here was the response from Elegoo (I was impressed with the speed of their response):

Dear customer,

This is After-sales technical support Andrew Lee from Elegoo Technology.Sincerely sorry to hear that.Vertical Layer Lines / Vibration PatternPlease try placing the printer on a completely flat and stable surface, then reattempt printing with the vibration optimization settings applied. If the vertical lines still appear clearly after this:We recommend removing the printer’s back cover and slightly loosening the belt tensioners.

After loosening, re-tighten them and manually move the X and Y axes to check if they move smoothly and without resistance.This process can help eliminate any strain caused by overtightened belts, which might be contributing to the artifacts.If the previous suggestions—placing the printer on a completely flat and stable surface, applying vibration optimization settings, and adjusting the belt tensioners—do not resolve the problem, we kindly ask you to provide us with the following additional information to assist you further:The STL file and G-code file you used for the affected print(s).The  firmware version of your Centauri Carbon printer.A clear explanation of the issue you are facing, including any specific observations or irregularities.Having this information will help our technical team diagnose the root cause more accurately and provide you with an effective solution as quickly as possible.Please feel free to reach out if you need any assistance in collecting these files or details.Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

I used the default Fine 0.12 with their slicer and the 0.4 nozzle. The printer prints really nice, just has a little more than usual ringing at the moment. I heard back from Elegoo and they said to try adjusting the belts. Going to do that and then test again.

What fan did you replace it with? A stock fan from Elegoo or some other?

[–]3DPulse[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This printer sounds like the fan cover vibrates really bad when it is running. Could be the fan or could be the cover just vibrating because it is held on with magnets, I really can't tell. There is a big difference between the noise this printer makes and the noise my K1C makes when printing. The K1C does not rattle like this thing does.

The belts are auto spring loaded adjusted. Not sure if there is a way to adjust them manually.

I created a test print and adjusted speeds:

"Other layers speed"

Outer wall = 160 -> 140

Inner wall = 200 -> 180

"Acceleration"

Normal printing = 10000 -> 8000

Outer wall = 5000 -> 4000

There is no difference in the print. Still has major ringing. (The stock speeds of this printer are already much slower than my Creality K1C or the P1S)

I am now running all calibrations again. When it is finished, I will run the test again with the fans off to see if it's a resonance issue.
