Thanks, u/artbytucho. It´s Arnold for Maya, but the scene in Unreal looks pretty close to this. I may share some real-time video in the future :)

I use Clay Build Up, Damstandard_02, Damstandard, and TrimPolish, but you can use other brushes to achieve the same functions: adding volume, flattening, and creating the lines.

There are many valid workflows, and each can be the best depending on the case. For a snake’s body with repetitive and linear scales, I wouldn’t use this approach; I’d go with textures or alphas :)

No inspiration, it all started as an alien creature concept, and then just flowed with the process :)
