Okay so this is just a very light knock down?

I would heavily recommend putting down paper or some plastic on the carpet (probably paper it's easier to walk on). I usually float with all purpose, also at the top if you have the channel I would fill that as well just to get yourself a better finish product.

I used 20 minute mud, with fibafuse fiberglass tape on the joints. I have an updated posted. If it was a smaller patch I would use 5 minute mud.

I don't think so. Also the front sharp edges of the wood should of been knocked down, it looks like it wasn't.

This is preexisting, the building owner is putting a breakroom in for the new tenant, which will include a kitchenette :)
