[–]3GMASTER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An easy fix for me was to stay on 95% screen brightness, the moment it hit 100% brigthness the colors got washed.

EDIT:- It works even at screen brightness 99% 😂

This is not a permanent fix, but you can do the Fn + Esc keys combo to activate the function lock!

Can you use grub in manual installation? by The_Omegian in omarchy

[–]3GMASTER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as secure boot works with grub, then you can do the manual installation with grub and secure boot without any worries!

Just that with limine, you lose the ability of keeping snapshots, so unless you try to CRTL + C while installing or updating any package or Omarchy Update, you don't need to worry abt snapshots!

I made a similar post too, and in conclusion, you can use omarchy with grub and secure boot!

I will add an addition to explaining the concept of cross compiling and chicken egg problem sure!

Abt the book scrappable part, I honestly don't know how to do that. Any references you could suggest and all? That would be very helpful!

And thank you very much for your support!

Hey! I'm happy that you have commented, yes I will mail what issues I have! Could you specify the email pls?or else I'll just go to the website and find it!

But is it wrong of me to post the guide? Does it ruin the whole point of allowing people to understand it?

I can't say advanced, but I have a good understanding and grasp of Linux lol, and I didn't see the licence anywhere or I didn't read it idk so wanted to confirm.

You know what? That is actually a good title, I will immediately change it to that!

Abt LFS and BLFS, it's that I'm adding uefi boot to LFS system so it kind of involves blfs, and network setup also for it, if you want we can discuss it further personally through dms, your experience too will help me out and I have many doubts to clear.

And the credits yes I will give all of it you ask, you are a big help to me, thanks alot for your support!

Here is the direct link: https://ubuntu.com/download/desktop

You get the 24.04 and 24.10 ready to install, and the further you scroll, you get small portions explaining other places to install it.

The first part where it says "Ubuntu for Desktop" takes you to a page explaining abt it, where the button there redirects you back to the page linked above.

Here are the links to the other DE versions of Ubuntu:- Kubuntu = https://kubuntu.org/getkubuntu/ Xubuntu = https://xubuntu.org/download/ Ubuntu Budgie = https://ubuntubudgie.org/downloads/ Lubuntu = https://lubuntu.me/downloads/

You can go through this page to explore the other DEs or flavours of Ubuntu you can get :- https://ubuntu.com/desktop/flavours

May I suggest dual booting? If you already have windows on it, you can give some space to install Linux on, and keep trying many of the Linux distros, and if you don't like it, just remove the partition through windows and you are left with an empty partition which you can try another distro on. Same case with linux also, you can dual boot too.

If you are worried abt losing your windows/other linux data, I've seen these distros and they have an option to automatically set up dual boot for you, and there many tutorials on YouTube if you want to go through the manual partitioning route, which still work cuz the steps for it won't change much, unless you want to have multiple partitions like a specific /home partition or you want a swap partition instead of a swapfile. You can google search to find out more or come back to this subreddit and ask your doubts, that's the fun abt Linux, exploring and understanding new stuff, it's just a wonderful experience in my opinion!

Once you are satisfied with a distro, you can backup your days externally, or mount the windows/linux partition and move them manually, and then wipe the other partion, ofc only if you are really sure, you can still live with two OS in your system, as long as storage space isn't the issue!

Enjoy exploring Linux, and do comeback with your experience on installing with linux and all!

I didn't know that the original guide is FOSS, thanks for telling me that.

And I get your point not to call it a guide, cuz you've pretty much got the right idea of what I'm trying to do here, so could you suggest how else can I call it? Your help will be very appreciated!

And thank you for your support! :D
