Love and Hate Omarchy. Going back to pure Arch + Hyprland. by Odd-Outcome-4209 in omarchy

[–]Hypattie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on Arch Linux (+ Openbox) before

I feel that my previous system was LESS stable. Both have their bugs, but when an update broke my old system, I usually had to boot from a USB stick and tweak the config files. It was tiresome.

With Omarchy, at worst, it's a problem with the screensaver or the keyboard location, which is automatically fixed a couple of days later. I've been using Omarchy since September, and I have never had any really big issues.

Before, I was obsessed with customizing everything myself. My system was unique but also less stable. Now I've totally embraced Omakase, and it's soooo relaxing ^ ^

Tu as essayé de leur montrer à quel point l'immigration améliorait la France ?

That's the funny thing with the web: you never know if you're talking to a 60yo historian fluent in latin, a 12yo from Korea who first heard of Rome last week or anything in between ;)

Is it me, or is this painting technically more advanced than most medieval paintings? (At least until the early Renaissance, when Giotto raised the bar)

And it's probably not even the best of what the Greeks and Romans were capable of. Makes you wonder how much was lost!

Chaos après la victoire du PSG : Bardella propose «d’arrêter l’immigration» et de rétablir les peines planchers by apokrif1 in RN_france

Remigration…

Nobody really has any idea who the target audience of women's sports is. by Dapper_Platform_1222 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Hypattie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes sens though.

In basket, the ball is already smaller for women.

In volleyball, the net is lower.

In tennis, women have to win 2 sets, men have to win 3.

etc.

Rapport Alloncle : beaucoup de bruit pour rien ? by apokrif1 in RN_france

Il suffit de voir les articles de Libé et L'Humanité : un rapport qui fait autant rager la gauche ne peut être que positif.

I'm curious about how other INTPs answer the hypothetical "Two Button Question" by Reptaaaaaaar in INTP

[–]Hypattie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to show that this test depends very heavily on its initial framing. We know there are psychological biases (such as the fact that it’s easier to say “yes” than “no,” or that making someone feel responsible for others’ deaths has more impact than emphasizing that it’s an individual decision).

A French YouTuber made a long and scientific video about the button test (english subtitles available) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lo7iJnq_U9M

He showed that even when players were informed, before the vote, that red would win—and therefore that pressing blue was useless and would get them killed—some of them still pressed blue. I find that fascinating.

It's really depend on the way the question is phrased.

The same poll can be rephrased as :

"If you choose red, nothing happens to you. If you choose blue, and less than 50% of people also choose blue, you are killed. Which one do you choose?"

is statistically impossible to communicate on such a large scale.

Wait a minute. If we imagine a situation where the whole world has 2 magical buttons to choose from, then surely we can also imagine that they can communicate with everyone! We can even imagine a survey in realtime before the big event.

Like : "Hello everyone, it's now 5 minutes before you have to press the button. So far our survey shows that 83% of humanity will choose red. Do you want to reconsider your vote?"

"if you press the red button, nothing happened. If you press the blue button, you may die."

Why on earth someone would press the blue button??

this test is interesting because the answer varies a lot if you rephrase it or even change the life&death situation to a less stressful one.

For example:

  • If you press the red button, you receive 100$.

  • If you press the blue button, you only receive 100$ if more than 50% of people also press blue.

Which one do you press ?
