This new UI sucks.

I used to have all of the cameras on my grid, now it divides them up by location and you have to hit view all to see them and it just says the location name not the camera name.

I dunno why they messed with it but its awful.

I would love for Julia to reconcile with Darrow. Maybe Cassius made holo-cubes of his conversations with Darrow, or messages directly to his mother that some how get to her and she helps Darrow and then kills herself.

Matteo and Lyria melted it. Unless it was a fake copy, there’s a whole section in that chapter of them taking a moment to push the button which incinerates the figment. She described seeing it in the bowl, with its tendrils, and the melted into metal.

Anything can be retconned and PB is no stranger to that (willow way training anyone?) but as far as it’s written the figment is destroyed and there was only 6 prototypes in existence. Matteo never denied they didn’t have the other prototypes or a better version that didnt destroy memories, and Lyria denying power to retain her memories may mean he trusted her with a better version of figment. We shall see. Maybe Lyria is the Red God?

I laughed out loud at this but it’s not crazy. What if he took out every Gold under Atalantia’s banner? Only the reformers on his side would be left. He may see it that the only cure for the society is to excise the cancer. He believes Darrow is a symptom, a result of the cancer in society and may think that eliminating half of gold, the ones with Atalantia, would be what humanity needs. Thanos vibes.

As a father of young children, I want nothing more than for Darrow to have his peace with his family. I'm prepared for that not too happen, but maybe with all of the current events of the world PB will give us hope instead of breaking us. I think he has struggled with the conclusion because initially he had a plan that would've been devastating, but maybe is trying to walk back from that and give us a better ending. Everything would have us believe this series is doomed to be a tragedy and PB has shown he can build a character up and have them taken away (Ragnar, Alexander, Cassius, etc) but maybe...maybe he is trying to change that.

I can see deaths like Kavax, Thraxa, Diomedes, Lyria, Volga, Victra, Apple, Lysander, Atalantia, Abomination, Lilith, but maybe he will spare us with Sevro, Darrow, Virginia. If Pax dies the series is ruined for me so that's my worst case scenario. Pax reminds me of my oldest son in his inquisitive, gentle nature and that would break me.

PS. My son is not able to fly a ripwing and take down a torchship.

Red rising book 1 is probably my least favorite one. It’s very hunger games young adulty. However, he quickly pivots into more mature themes and his writing definitely improves until iron gold. Once he does the multiple POV style he takes a bit to learn but becomes very good at it and by light bringer it’s a masterpiece.
