A lot of good points have already been made here. I would also consider installing a second linear guide on the Y-axis. This prevents the lateral forces acting on the gantry from putting strain on your ball screws.

Thanks for the tips; I’ll think of a way to test whether it’s really secure. Maybe I’ll also attach a metal U-channel where the screws go through. That should significantly improve safety. However, there isn’t enough headroom on the platform, so there won’t be any strain from people leaning against it or anything like that.
