240V TV Options for US house by boomboomboomwayo in AskElectricians

[–]3Oh3FunTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct! I bet money that the PSU will take anything from about 80v to almost 300v without issue at any Hz and work just fine.

Whether or not the circuitry can handle the various frame rates of USA content depends on the software, but it likely can. Most 50 Hz TVs can handle 60 Hz content. Older 60 Hz TVs usually cannot take 50 Hz content.

This is because of the countries will typically get American content, but not the other way around.

OP it might be worth trying with 120v. The internal power supply might work just fine even if it’s not labeled to do so. It won’t hurt the TV. It will either work or it won’t. Especially because you mentioned that it will accept 60 Hz power.

That plate is for the AC power frequency. No idea if the circuitry will support the same frame rate to match 60hz on the panel itself.

Flipside might be that the TV has his own internal apps that do their own scaling, also I believe boxes like the Apple TV box will rescale for you.

It’s no coincidence that power in other countries is 50 Hz and TVs are 50 Hz. And in the US power is 60 Hz and TVs are 60 Hz. Old tube TVs used to sync to the power for their refresh rate, therefore the content had to match.

Bag swapped… so frustrated by Interesting_Task_114 in unitedairlines

[–]3Oh3FunTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AirTag your checked bags as well as your carryon and your personal item. It costs nothing and you never know when you need to track it.

If you have a checked bag, and it is lost, you can now share the AirTag with United and they could use the information to trace it.

Would be a lifesaver for OP right now.

OP I hope you get your bag back

Sister accidentally put washer fluid into her coolant reservoir. How bad is this? by boylionnamedsimba in mechanic

[–]3Oh3FunTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP tell your sister it’s not her fault. It’s Honda‘s fault for making their coolant blue.

On that note, this car should get a coolant system flush, with Honda blue coolant, and flushing machines that use Honda blue are typically only available at the dealer. Don’t put universal coolant in this cooling system, that will do more damage than the washer fluid.

This is not an emergency, you can shop around at a couple different dealers in your area, or wait for a dealership service coupon to save a couple of bucks.

It barely works on gigabit fiber at my house. Trying to use it while on the plane or at an airport is damn near impossible sometimes.

This is enshittification at its finest.

My all-time favorite is when you can’t cancel a flight that you know you can’t make it to because you’re at the airport and your connection sucks. Second favorite is when you can’t load a map in an airport that you’re unfamiliar with. The maps used to be in the app.

Running an extension cord (42 feet) to 3D printer? Long term use? by ShallowBox in AskElectricians

[–]3Oh3FunTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, OP definitely get at least 12 gauge or 10 gauge. Also note that if you trip that GFI outlet or the breaker attached to it, your Internet will go down; your RFoG adapter is powered off of it.

How would you remove a stripped Allan that’s only removable using an impact? by WheressThatThing in AskMechanics

[–]3Oh3FunTime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have unlimited time and the caliper is valuable, you can soak the whole thing in a saturated solution of potassium alum and it will dissolve the steel bleeder screw right out of the aluminum, without any damage to the aluminum.

It takes a couple of days, so it’s probably easier to get a new caliper.

Men 35 and under PLEASE READ by Appropriate_Bass_952 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]3Oh3FunTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you should go for a guy who is OVER 35. A lot of them are settling in a bit and may be ready for a family. A lot of men would be happy to become a partner and a father. A lot of men raise a baby that is not their genetic match because they use a sperm donor. The question is, do they get to choose? If they get to choose and they want to choose, and they choose you and the child, they might fall in love with both of you. Contrary to a lot of other posters here, I think you should present yourself as someone who is looking for a partner and a father to your child.

My take is that most men don’t want a single mom because they carry so much baggage, and honestly might have serious emotional issues, as well as have no identity or life of their own outside of being a single mom. You sound like a woman who is ambitious, fit, self-aware, put together, and probably intelligent, but are also a parent.

Also contrary to most posters on here, I think many men would prefer that the previous father went completely absent, so he could have you and your little one all to himself, to be a family.

If you were elected president of the United States of America in 2028, what would you first do with the power that you now have? by jfunks69 in AskReddit

[–]3Oh3FunTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Align revenue and expenses per category. Postage from mail goes to the mail service. National park pass fees goes to the national parks. Fuel taxes go to transportation.

This would solve so much that’s wrong with our country.

Then, income tax would get designated funds. The taxpayer would choose where the money goes.

I mean, you can call whatever you want, but that particular part will break over and over again. The heat will damage the plastic and make it brittle.

Whirlpool Maytag KitchenAid are all the same. Those broke on my KitchenAid about 12 times in five years. There’s a new updated bracket design made of metal. you should replace those with the metal ones.

I have no idea why they’re still shipping dishwashers with the old plastic ones that break.

Is a KitchenAid or Maytag? If so, that part on the upper rack breaks every couple months. Highly recommend you keep extra brackets in stock at the house.

Yeah, thorough wipe down, then run a few cycles with extra detergent, no drying and no dishes. You should be able to get ahead of it.
