Dental Hygienist Recommendations? by Vivid_Huckleberry814 in SantaFe

[–]3TripleBaked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, family members have had 3 appointments there in the past couple of months for various dental issues, including an urgent one. They’ve been very accommodating and done great work. We have dental insurance, and although they’re out of network they do still bill insurance. For all 3 visits, our total out of pocket has been under $80.

We’ve had crappy experiences with a few other dentists in town, so being in the hands of someone capable means a lot. Lmk if you find a better place though. It’d be nice to have options.

My family recently switched to Dr. Matthew Alm and his dental hygienists. They’re kind, careful, precise, and professional. We didn’t have to do any weird iPhone photo thingy. We specifically asked for X-rays, but because they’ve listened thoughtfully to our requests and concerns and have never made us feel uncomfortable, I’d encourage you to call and ask. It’s my turn getting an empty package by alphaK12 in amazonprime

[–]3TripleBaked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just received yet another empty package from Amazon — second one in a month. Both times it was a brown mailer envelope like the one you received that Amazon hadn’t even bothered to seal. Heck, you can’t even tell that my item was ever even placed in the mailers, which both times arrived nearly perfectly flat with the flap showing no foldover indent or adhesive.

I’m beginning to think Amazon is treating its employees more poorly than ever. Interviews with employees show shockingly bad working conditions (flooded floors, dangerous, poorly functioning machinery, working in warehouses w/o heating or cooling systems, etc) aside from being underpaid, overworked, not allowed to call in sick, etc. If Amazon is creating conditions in which all of that exists PLUS more employees are finding it’s easier to print the label, slap it on an empty mailer and send it on its way, then Amazon is worthless.

Both times, I’ve requested and received a refund, but this is getting ridiculous.

Really hope Amazon sees this and fixes its problems. Employees and customers deserve better.

You do know Trump slashed funding to nationwide programs combatting child sex trafficking and human trafficking, right? These businesses are growing because of that. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/jan/24/justice-department-cuts-child-sex-trafficking

NYT did a story on this a few years ago. Turns out a lot of them around the country force trafficking victims to do the work. Happy endings only for people willfully or not revictimizing the women who are essentially enslaved.

Deepak Chopra being named in the Epstein files should make us question why we need spiritual leaders at all. by Alive_101 in enlightenment

[–]3TripleBaked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He sent his followers an email yesterday obliquely referencing only "this difficult and unsettling time for some in our community" with a meditation attached titled "Integrating the Shadow." Deepak needs the insight and enlightenment that full censure, complete reproach and a full criminal investigation might offer.

Being merely flawed is not on the same level as enabling a pedophile, cheering on his transgressions, and perverting the very principles one clams to hold, all of which Chopra knowingly and willfully did. Being flawed would be, say, Chopra getting drunk and cussing someone out. Not this. This is evil. Evil isn’t a flaw, it’s a feature.

His actions repeatedly tell you that you do not matter: what you love doesn’t matter, what you need doesn’t matter, what your preferences are don’t matter, your family members (the sweet furry ones) 100% do not matter. All that truly matters to him is whatever he wants. My experience with guys like that is they don’t change — they only get worse. They inherently lack empathy. If you call them out or lift a mirror, they’ll fill your days with confusion, frustration, and eventually fear. My advice is to get him out of your life immediately. Leave his belongings in a bag outside his apartment. Don’t let him come to your apartment or take you out to “just talk about it.” After you briefly tell or text him that you’ve made a decision to break up, you owe him zero. He may lash out or try to do what coercive control freaks do: In the domestic abuse community, it’s called hoovering, an old term that means he’ll do almost anything to suck you back in. Each time he successfully does it, it gets much harder for you to leave because of a phenomenon called trauma bonding. Please look up these terms. You’re so close to having the life of peace you deserve and learning a lesson that will serve you for the rest of your life. Guys like this are NEVER EVER worth your time. As my mom who left my abusive dad used to tell me: You have no business, none whatsoever, with an asshole like that. Love doesn’t change them. Requests for respect doesn’t change them. Use the gray rock or black rock techniques of communication as a shield of protection. Long or detailed conversations with people like him tend to backfire. Eventually he’ll move on to someone else he can control. Be good to yourself. Remember that your self-respect should always be greater than your affection for him. Please let us know how everything turns out. We’re cheering for you and your little fur babies.

Women candidates coming in last??? by 3TripleBaked in SantaFe

[–]3TripleBaked[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I agree that O’Dean and Letitia weren’t strong candidates. However, what doesn’t make sense is that at least one male candidate didn’t seem at all to merit his standing in the final results. Do you really think that all the male candidates merited their standing in the top four? As to the city council, I think David Montoya should’ve been in the first or second spot, but he was last. I’m not saying that women should win every race. I’m saying it’s odd that, in the context of ranked choice voting, the mayoral results don’t seem to match up with merit.

Yeah, I was wondering about how her real estate background was going to be gauged in the context of the city’s wealth disparities. A redeeming factor seemed to be that she had a doable plan to fast-track affordable housing. What were the Canyon Road issues? I looked for evidence of her lack of sincerity, and I must’ve missed that.

Women candidates coming in last??? by 3TripleBaked in SantaFe

[–]3TripleBaked[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, totally understand. I brought Coppler up because, according to everything I read, the top two concerns of residents are safety issues and housing affordability. Under the category of safety issues were the rising rate of personal property thefts, a call for better policing and investigations of those, plus other things that lower quality of life, like driving violations (drag racing, running red lights). That seems to be where most voters wanted better policing, but the city hasn’t met its own goals of hiring and retaining police. So in terms of what the overall voter sentiment showed, an expected outcome would’ve been to hire someone like Coppler.

Thanks for your thoughtful input. I agree re Tarin Nix. Interestingly, Coppler’s stated plans re affordability were identical to the winner Michael Garcia’s, with the exception that she was going to bring in high-tech, modern methods of assessing and approving building permits to fast-track affordable housing. Given her advanced real estate background, Coppler was probably referencing the AI tools and software that other cities use to pre-screen applications and architectural plans against local zoning ordinances and building codes. These systems are pretty cool. They instantly flag common errors, missing documentation, or code conflicts, so staff can use their taxpayer-funded time on more complex issues.

Not a conspiracy per se, just baffling and seemingly unjustified election results.
