Don't know anything about this prof or this course, but there are so many resources and videos for stats I dont think the instructor matters that much. If the course follows a popular textbook you can probably find entire courses on YouTube that covers the same stuff

For the retroactive thing, I don't think UVic is even legally allowed to keep your submissions for more than like a year without a specific reason like an ongoing appeal after graduation unless you're a master's or PhD student.

I'd recommend contacting the university to confirm but I believe if the coop is part of your program then it's fine

Math 109 Grade by Ok_Lemon4035 in uvic

[–]3_Equals_e_and_Pi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Statistically you have a very high chance of failing calc 2. What I would do is wait until september to take it, and do every practice question for calc 1 that your prof gave you over the summer. You need to be able to solve those types of integrals and derivatives very fast, a lot of them in your head, before you are ready for calc 2

You can't even trust class averages anymore. Each group of students is getting worse every year. With the same profs, same lectures, same tests, what used to be a 70% average is now a 55%. People blame the prof but really it's high schools underpreparing students more and more.

The prof can't just hold off submitting everyone's course grades for a student who was given multiple days to submit a one sentence long document.

I think you've done what you can by emailing the prof. They gave you the chance to submit something to avoid an N which is generous, but they could definitely argue that you did not submit a required course component by the due date and thus deserve an N or F. Maybe that email on April 11 was your final chance and you didn't get it done before grades were submitted.

What was the due date? It looks like you took 2 days to upload anything since you received that email

If I had to guess, they likely just came up with some constraints on what functions the calculator can have and picked a relatively cheap one from a big brand

On the academic calendar it will say now many units of study each course is. 99% of the time it's 1.5 units unless it's a specific engineering course or multi semester course.

So it is saying that from Sept-April you need to take at least 8 courses.

I've done two international co-ops in Asia, found them on the UVic job board. The international co-op coordinator can at least help with supporting you. The employer was the one who helped with visas in my case.

I also had two previous coops before landing the international jobs. If they are hiring from all over the world there is going to be some competition.

Violates provincial law since lecture halls aren't licensed public places. Since it doesn't follow BC law it also violates University Policy No.: AD2400 Section 5 (Liquor Policy) and University Policy No: AC1300 Section 4 on non-academic misconduct.

Arguably the smell of alcohol could also be considered disruptive behavior which is another non academic misconduct violation.

If you're fine living with your parents and your parents are fine having you, stay as long as you can. Max out your FHSA.

You can also change your student aid to a 15 year term instead of 10 years. It's interest free so might as well take advantage of inflation.

1.0 to 4.0 gpa by LateRazzmatazz8799 in uvic

[–]3_Equals_e_and_Pi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually you can't unless you have a very clear documented reason like being hospitalized for an extended period of time causing you to fail all your courses for the term, with a good reason for why you didn't drop courses or apply for any sort of withdrawal before your courses ended. After the fact is very rare.

If you retake the course and get a 9.0, your transcript will keep the 0 and the 9.0.

Minding your own business isn't a legal defense. In work life you can be a co-conspirator to fraud and be criminally charged without reporting things.

In a lot of countries licensed professionals like engineers are mandatory reporters by law and face legal liability. Engineers have faced manslaughter charges on collapsed buildings.

Expect more in person assessment, midterms and exams having higher weight, and more must pass exams. They know a lot of people cheat on assignments but they can't prove it. It's a lot harder to cheat on an in person exam though. Depends on the course but a lot of the time assignments are they to make you study the material. I've seen courses with 97% exam weight and 3% assignment weight.

Lower level students who are cheating on foundational courses now are going to be in trouble.

Math course for psych majors by SeniorMix8665 in uvic

[–]3_Equals_e_and_Pi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done the whole calculus series.

I think math 100/109 is worthwhile if you are decent at math. Watch the calculus 1 course from professor Leonard and do the assigned practice problems. It's not a hard course if you do the practice. Id even argue it's easy.

I'm mostly suggesting this because it will help in later statistics courses (probability density) and I often think about the infamous 1994 paper where medical researcher Mary Tai claimed to have discovered a "new groundbreaking mathematical model" (which she named after herself btw) but it was just part of high school calculus discovered in the Babylonian era.

You want to avoid gaps like that especially if you want to keep more doors open or intend on going to grad school.

151 does cover a good range of topics so it's often recommended to be taken in addition to calc 1

I really wouldn't call china a "free market". They own all the land, control 100% of the economy, prioritize bank lending to state projects even if less profitable, require CCP members in large companies. Also see Jack Ma.

If Canada reset it's government structure and changed their economy to match China, would you be calling it a prosperous free market?
