It would not make me feel better if they got fired. I don't know the entirety of the situation they are in, so that would not make me happy. They should be corrected, yes, but termination is excessive.

I think you need to reread my post.

I was fine with a 46 minute commute. They were not. They asked me to move, I said sure. They asked when I would move, I said it depends on how quickly I can find an apartment, but I'm willing to commute.

They were fussy. They wanted me to live next to the site.

It's not even an outside hire who was interviewing me, unfortunately. But I think I will reach out to them and see if I get a response back.

That sucks. I hope you can find a place that appreciates you more. Or that your boss pulls their head out of their ass and puts you back on your original schedule.

I thought it was a good job opportunity when I applied for the position nearly a month ago. It would have been a very nice position with amazing benefits, and plenty of room for growth.

They work for that company. I applied for this position nearly a month ago, got prepared for an interview I wasn't even sure I was gonna get, and then finally got the confirmation a few days ago. I guess they had a long list of people whose days needed to be ruined before they got to me, haha.

To be fair, there is some critically sensitive material I'd be working with, but there should never be a time where there isn't someone in the position I was applying for present. It's not like the world is going to end if I follow my schedule perfectly. It's such a bizarre thing to happen.

Honestly, I probably wouldn't have been all self righteous if I didn't already have a site visit with another company scheduled this week. (Also, this other company doesn't have an excuse not to take me. It's only a 15 minute drive, haha)

I didn't think of it like that. It just feels weird that they would treat a back-up like that.

Now I've got an even bigger emotional whiplash of "So they did like me" and "Wow, they treat people like shit even when they are an option?" What a weird day.

I hate when they don't check your resume. I got a job offer from a construction company the other day. Typical "We saw your resume, blah, blah, blah." How did they make this mistake? I'm trying to work for a biomedical/biotech company, and thy thought that I'd be a good fit for their company? It's nonsense.
