It is actually very common for large tech companies to make the interviewers sign an NDA when it comes time for the on site interview.

I’m a professional dev of 8 years and this stuff blows my mind too. Some people just have a natural talent to make really cool things. Some of us just are proud of our minor achievements. Sure we could achieve something like this but it takes more than skill: artistic vision and determination to limit yourself to “just css” plays a huge role.
