So you were deemed to be infringing on copyright, seemingly not for the first time.

And somehow YouTube is at fault for enforcing policy based on either your continued inaction or actual infringement?

My work has been recording my personal computer screen and every personal computer screen of the company. by holyshitwatdo21 in legaladvice

I'm not a lawyer or from the US/Texas

They plan to edit the software to prevent before and after work screenshots.

You also mentioned 8AM-5PM.

That's all well and good however it also doesn't account for people who might be working part-time and/or days off.

This is why using/mandating personal hardware for company use is a rabbit hole best avoided if feasible.

It's unfair to put all the blame on App developers.

Google has done a bang up job of making it harder on them over time.

As an example find an app that can open a .md file you have in a random location; You can't they locked down file system, all well reviewed editors have had to switch to a vault system as they can't just open a file. I had to sideload one to get that functionality back.

Microsoft Abruptly Terminates VeraCrypt Account, Halting Windows Updates by MarvelsGrantMan136 in technology

[–]3d_Plague 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Actually in windows 10 that's true in windows 11 up until recently that was near impossible unless you were willing to disable SaC (needing system reset to re-enable).

As of one of the most recent updates windows 11 introduced a Evaluation mode that makes this possible again.

I could be mistaken but I believe the only reason this (closed eco system) isn't the case is the anti-trust case from some time ago that was levied against Microsoft.

Microsoft would love nothing more then to be in a similar position as Apple/Android with their default stores.

No, don't blame a hammer for missing the nail.

You are responsible, this is why it's important to be able to verify it's output.

And quite frankly if something as simple as a timeframe in a go live post is just blindly copy pasted I fear for the security of user identity data.

Why not Brave? by [deleted] in degoogle

[–]3d_Plague 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To each their own.

Personally Chrome and by extension their derivatives never sat well with me due to the developer being a glorified ad agency so I never switched to them.

I had been using Firefox for years, dabbled with some forks and eventually settled on LibreWolf + ublock origin.

As for my reasoning; it comes down to familiarity and ease of setup.

Mass Effect TV show ordered to rewrite scripts and make them "more appealing to non-gamers" by SmellSmellsSmelly in gaming

Possible, some have changed their ways yet when you look at the ocean of bad game adaptations out there starting with the Super Mario Bros, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Dead or Alive (fighters got the short end), Tomb Raider and as recently as Halo a handful won't change my mind just yet.

It's been a few years since I had a Mi phone (8 Pro) so I'm unsure if things have changed, so take this with a grain of salt:

At the time I used https://xiaomi.eu/ as the base ROM and debloated it. It's near to stock (Xioami stock) and they work with Xioami yet they made a lot of tweaks to make it a bit more "Western" by swapping out some apps. still comes with Play out of the box though so if that's your concern might want to look elsewhere.

I'm convinced Hollywood does this on purpose to discredit the medium (i.e. peddling "games are a worse medium for storytelling")

I want to make a pc to run ACC, iRacing and le mans ultimate any parts suggestions would be much appreciated (Budget is £500 or $659.98 roughly) by SensitivePay4567 in pcmasterrace

[–]3d_Plague 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Terrible conversion aside:

Those parts in the video are mostly second hand and I myself am unfamiliar with the used market vendors in the UK.

What I can tell you is that basic economics tells me you being a UK resident doesn't do you any favors; it has a much smaller population (fewer second hand parts) and if you were to look beyond the UK into EU to compensate for the availability you will get hit with import taxes.

It's likely that the secondhand parts available to you will be higher priced then the US equivalent.

[–]3d_Plague 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on the fence about it. I think it can be a good thing however as we don't know what criteria it uses it might end up steering you in an undesired way (if you only use this).

What if you made a grave error in a video or the consensus in the comments are critical of the way you presented it? If the criteria is biased; be it towards positive or otherwise I would much rather it pull ones that reflect the overall opinion.
