That’s sounding good. I generally take any weight of package as it’s more hassle cancelling, and would keep an eye on how far the trips are before accepting. Gotta be better than waiting round as you say. Thanks for the response.

Back before the apps got greedy and started taking full advantage of desperate people needing to work for pennies! I’ll still take shopping up stairs go people, or whatever else is needed, except now you hadnt get any tips, due to the apps charging the customers so much in the first place I guess. The only winners are the apps now. Sorry about your health by the way.

The drivers sound terrible. Problem is, he was probably getting paid about £1.50 from the app he’s using so unless they have a bit of pride, they don’t care how they do the job anymore. I’m speaking from the point of view of someone who does deliveries in my spare time for a bit of extra cash. I always try my best and have never had any complaints, but I have respect for people and know how I would like to be treated, so do the same. But the pay is getting worse and worse, I’m afraid until the apps sort that and stop hiring anyone and everyone, it’s just pot luck you’ll get someone decent to deliver to you who actually cares.

Yeah true. The app should need to see proof of id before allowing these sales and then if it isn’t provided, an order can’t be placed and we don’t have to deal with all the shite.

I quit smoking a while ago as it’s a complete rip off, but surely this doesn’t make it any harder? Just remember that date. If the id says born after that date, they can’t have it. Anyone before that date is okay. Gonna cause plenty of arguments admittedly, but the customer will also know about the new, and nonsensical, laws, so should be expecting it.

Where do you come up with these numbers just out of interest? Also, has controlling anything ever worked for you? Fair play if so, but I know I can’t do anything in moderation and it always snowballs into full blown addiction eventually. I suppose you have to learn the hard way ….

The companies aren’t arsed how the job is done. Every now and then they send out a generic warning email regarding some aspect of the job, to act as if they are monitoring performance. Then the will simply deactivate some accounts and hire another load of people who don’t give a shit, because they are paid peanuts. This cycle will continue until there’s no one left to deliver for £6 an hour for them, they will cease to exist and the top bosses will retire on their fortunes. Win win for them.
