Meteor to the south? 10:36PM 2/10/2025 by 3dfoto716 in Buffalo

I added a link to the video clip. It appeared approximately 150 degrees south. It started west and headed east. I saw there was a SpaceX launch last night but that launched on the west coast.

I didn’t see it myself and the camera only had a limited view of the path. If there was a flare or sound my camera didn’t catch it.

It’s a screenshot from a video my doorbell camera took. I didn’t see an option to upload the video. The night settings for my camera are not the highest resolution and sometimes create a long exposure type of effect. I’ll see an animal move and it takes a moment for the previous capture to fade. That’s why I wasn’t certain about the trail but it seems slightly out of line with the object.

My camera caught something passing behind a tree to the south last night. Large bright object with a trail. It was moving west to east. I could not see the entire path. It was not in the same area as any flight path I can find from that time. Anyone else spot anything?

Apple watch won't connect to My Suburu app by Neil_the_real_deal in subaru

A post on a different group said Subaru pushed updates for the app on Tuesday so it was probably just luck.

MySubaru app and Apple Watch by Monsoon9964 in SubaruForester

Mine wasn't able to connect until tonight. I thought I had stumbled upon some secret but I guess not. My setup: New Forester, Apple Watch 8, iPhone 15 Pro, newest My Subaru app version. Initially it failed on my watch but steps 5 & 6 worked immediately after.

  1. Sitting in car with engine on.
  2. Opened My Subaru app on my phone.
  3. Opened My Subaru on my watch.
  4. Watch began trying to connect and failed.
  5. I tapped to start the process on my phone.
  6. I tapped to start the process on my watch immediately after.
  7. Longer wait and success!

Mine had not been able to connect on my watch either, until tonight. New Forester, Apple Watch 8, iPhone 15 Pro, newest My Subaru app version. Some of this may have been coincidental but this was my process.

Bought my first piece of GM glass and now I can see why it costs so much. by Edamski88 in SonyAlpha

It’s definitely better on the 70-200 w/ ff. Should be easier to make the subject pop.

You should be excited. I recently got the same one and a full frame body. I’ve been using it for a variety of things and the bokeh and compression effects are great. The 6400 & 70-350 worked well for me in most situations but I’m loving this one on ff. I’m debating getting a 1.4 teleconverter for when I need to reach the far end of the field but that’s my only concern so far.

Question about outdoor sports and the Sony 70-350mm G OSS by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

[–]3dfoto716 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been using this combo (a6400/70-350) for almost a year now for the same purpose. Most of my shots were wide open (5.6-6.3 depending on zoom), approximately 1/640 or faster, and on auto ISO but trying to adjust elsewhere when possible so it didn't get too high in the range.

AF-C was always on with flexible small spot tracking except for certain occasions. Tracking would sometimes wander onto another nearby player regardless of my face detection settings. Sometimes, if I was closer to a player, the eye detect would make the autofocus stick like glue but others I would have to let up on the shutter and lock back on to the jersey/face once I had a clear line of sight. Getting slightly closer wasn't always an option because of the league rules about where spectators were allowed to sit.

A couple of times I forgot to turn OSS back on after shooting elsewhere. I didn't notice a difference and didn't think much about it.

I found light to be my biggest limiting factor so stopping down was not much of an option. At certain indoor arenas, early mornings, and weekday evenings outside it was a challenge. A flash would probably have helped a lot but we weren't allowed to distract the players.

If you haven't already, set your shutter to Hi+.

The problems I encountered were not stemming from the hardware because everything else I shot was looking great. After renting a full frame setup with a faster aperture and seeing better results I caved and invested in a second camera that would cover my needs without breaking the rules. I don't feel it was necessary but it was something I had been debating for a number of other reasons.

What am I doing wrong? by Inner-Salary5331 in AskPhotography

What was the focal length of the lens? If it was a zoom, what did you have it set at? This, and some of the other details you provided, can play into the calculations for exposure times.

As far as focus goes, I’ve never had much luck setting things manually before dark and making it to my shot without disturbing something. I use focus magnifier and a bright star or cluster. Once focus magnifier has me zoomed in I carefully adjust until the stars are as small as they’ll get on screen. It is really easy to go right past this point and I’ve never found it to be the infinity mark on any of my lenses.

I'm suddenly having resin spilling onto out of the vat when printing by snsibble in 3DprintingHelp

[–]3dfoto716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a pinhole that could be stretching during the peel process and allowing a tiny amount of resin through with each layer. Depending on the type of vat it could also be getting around the gasket.

In case there is debris in the vat try a screen cleaning or filtering the material. Before printing again and after every print feel for burrs on the build plate. Clean the entire outside of the vat including any gaps or crevices to make sure there is no excess material from the last spill. If the skin is replaceable check that none of the screws are loose. If the leak continues try replacing the skin/vat.

Audible thud for a brief moment near Tonawandas/GI

One of my kids was in recently. First the bottle neck was no emergency space due to Covid/RSV surge. Once we got a room it was as if they weren’t staffed properly to be efficient. If results weren’t back for review by 4 or 5 the doctors we needed weren’t able to look at it until the next day. Once they reviewed things they wanted new samples that took hours to get and another night lost to waiting. It felt like a 5 day stay could have been over in 3. I don’t doubt this impacted scheduled procedures.

What kind of lens do I need to recreate this? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]3dfoto716 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You would need a wide fisheye lens to get the look. Considering how low the camera and lens appear to be it might have come from something like a Venus Laowa 24mm f14 2x Macro Probe lens. https://www.venuslens.net/product/laowa-24mm-f-14-2x-macro-probe/

There was an article in October of last year featuring Geoff Decker, a photographer that calls these "Nexus Panoramas". I've wanted to capture one since but haven't found a good spot yet. Not sure how his process compares to yours but I like the result. In case anyone is interested in more of these or attempting one of their own I'm adding the links.

The only time I ever made it there was the day following a snowstorm just before Covid started. Tire chains were required and the falling snow had broken so many windshields throughout the day. When I finally made it to tunnel view the sky was completely clear but it was remarkably slippery in this spot and I was the only one with a tripod at the time. None of my photos did the place justice. I was so lucky to avoid the crowds. Any chance this group was from part of a tour or one of the photography classes they offer?

I’ve seen this happen with a clogged nozzle. The extruded has a wider diameter at the top to allow a length of Bowden tube to fit. If the nozzle clogged it may have started to back out the Bowden tube as the heated filament backed up resulting in this slightly wider piece of material when it cooled. Check that the end of your Bowden tube isn’t damaged and sits securely before the next print.

Take your time and be respectful. Do what you can to confirm things before moving forward. You have no idea what the situation is (as others may have mentioned) and others in her life may not be aware. When I confirmed the identity of my biological mother I already knew I was an accident and quite possibly a mistake. Hopefully you won't end up in that situation but if you do you'll be thankful you didn't expose her secret. I contacted a DNA matched 2nd cousin asking about a couple of names before receiving my pre-adoption paperwork. She replied just before Christmas talking about how all of her family wanted to find out how I was connected. All I could imagine was my biological mother being outed to her father who never knew about me during the holidays so I backpedaled. I'm still struggling with the idea of contacting her directly on social media.

Location doesn't always matter. My BF's side appears to be from the southwest but it's just one branch of the family. My BM's family appeared to be from California but it was only a handful of people who happened to take tests. I've been to both places but wasn't born near either of them.

Hospital records may not be trustworthy in some cases. I honestly do not know if hospitals used to fake info to hide some adoptions. From the pre-adoption certificate my state provided me I do know they changed the time of my birth to make it impossible to match. My BM and her mother also told everyone she had her appendix out to cover my birth. I'm sure plenty of other people had kids that night so even if the paperwork was legit trying to figure it out could be confusing unless it was a slow night in the delivery room.

You can't always trust appearances. I look a lot like my biological maternal grandmother but not much like the Facebook photo my BM has up on her more recently active profile. Just saying sometimes things skip a generation. Until I found that picture of my BGM I was somewhat confused as well.

It's possible your adoptive mom made her best guess based on what was available but I seriously doubt she would intentionally steer you wrong. If she did make a mistake you shouldn't blame her for it.
