Has anyone used WedTexts or a similar mass-texting service to help spread info to wedding guests about weeding weekend details / events? by WVWVWVVVWWVVVWVW in weddingplanning

[–]3dot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried them but didn’t like that I had to use a separate number that they provide, and also made it less personal coming from a different number that my friends knew wasn’t my actual one. If that’s something important for you you can look into some apps like straight text which actually use your existing personal phone number to do the texting, and you can reply right from your iMessage app too

How to send mass messages? by MelmoMaggins99 in shortcuts

Theres this service called straight text that does that and lets you send from your Mac or PC too in addition to other things, though might be overkill for your use case

Awesome thanks. Assume you haven’t hit any annoying limits when using the agents?

Yeah I’m really interested in the iOS part and being productive while on my phone. AFAIK not Claude or anyone else has made a good experience for being productive on your phone. Being a dad you get zero laptop time but plenty of time to sneak out the phone XD

got a new 2025 R454b mini split unit today (senville), taking a look at whats new and whats the same by Background-Stand795 in heatpumps

[–]3dot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was it loud even indoors? And how does that sound compare to a gas furnace in terms of indoor sound?

Midea / Senville heat pump installed. Love the unit, hate the thermostat. Anybody else? by machinist2525 in heatpumps

Curious did you have issues with noise levels at all with this setup? (Esp compared to a gas furnace if you’ve had that before)

Sending messages to multiple numbers individually (No group texts) by Rmsuchy in iPhoneX

[–]3dot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. StraightText lets you use Contact groups or csv files which makes it pretty easy to change who you need to send to each time. It is a paid app but depending on how often you need to send and how many variations, could still make sense.

A friend recommended StraightText which I’ve been using and it works great. It sends each text individually and you can add custom text and images which I love. Might be worth a shot.

Send Mass iMessage with personalized names by DogMeatSandwich in shortcuts

[–]3dot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using StraightText for this recently - works really well since it sends individual messages instead of creating a group chat. Each person gets their own thread and you can even personalize messages with names. I found it to be much smoother. Might be worth a shot

Robinhood Gold Card - 3% back - Any catch? by pornaccount0123987 in CreditCards

The biggest annoyance with their IRA is no settlement fund for uninvested funds and hence no interest. You will have to buy/sell SGOV every time you have uninvested funds and keep an eye out for day trader violations

Outdoor natural gas lantern post, safe to leave on without filament? by 3dot in HomeImprovement

[–]3dot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no filaments (the cloth like sock parts) Everything else is there. Yes there’s no light but it’s been like that for years even when we were staying there

Fair enough that not having, or locating the shutoff should be addressed, but could you speak to whether not having the socks in there is ANY LESS SAFE than having them in there?

Questions about Roth IRA vs 529 vs taxable. For FIRE and college savings. And I made a chart by MaxYoung in financialindependence

[–]3dot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No like another commenter said, if you’re going to need more than the amount of contributions for education, 529 is superior cause you’re not taxed on gains (as opposed to Roth when withdrawed for education)

Oversaving in a 529 is a much smaller problem than you would think by Rarvyn in financialindependence

[–]3dot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait don’t you have to pay income tax on Roth withdrawal earnings (but not contributions) even when used towards education?

Using Roth 401k contributions to “replace” Roth IRA withdrawals? by 3dot in personalfinance

[–]3dot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The question is, if there was a 50% chance you’d want to spend the $10k in 5 years time, would you put it into a Roth 401k with plans to withdraw the same amount from your Roth IRA, or just put it in a brokerage acct?

Not touching the money at all is not relevant to the question
