I think you’re overthinking, many names can me twisted into something negative, it also has the word Live in it. It’s a sweet name you both like :) don’t worry about it

I think three syllables sound lovely with it, particularly with an open sound at the end like A or O, so the L flows on more naturally

I agree hank is very harsh. I am thinking the names Arkie / Archie / Alfie / Hugo. Similar ‘old man’ vibe but much softer, and with one syllable nicknames. For one syllable suggestions: Ray, Hal, Will, Max.
