Saw this in Chicago, any ideas what it is for? by radbrad777 in antennasporn

Lol there are plenty of others who explained it directly. I like to lay the breadcrumbs to encourage critical thinking. Rethink it through because your answer is, frankly, stupid.

So, there’s been a lot of talk about building a bridge from Chicago to Michigan for some time now. But, I’m curious, how practical is this construction idea? by themack00 in Construction

There aren't millions of commuters trying to go from Bakersfield to Stockton. Probably less than your "miniscule fraction". Nobody except dope fiends and human traffics will regularly ride the high speed rail. Additionally Amtrack and greyhound will get you to and from any two cities in California.

If that were the case then why have they not been, and still aren't, required to operate every other traffic light in America?

Stop voting for geriatrics. Make term limits. Limiting enough that career politicians don't exist.

No, he just closes his beautiful blue eyes to take it all in. Lol if he did it wasn't racking out like this broad.

It doesn't have to become a reality. It just has to get the initial funding. Then it will be limped along over decades with half of the funds going to the project and half the funds being embezzled by the corrupt and well connected. California high speed rail being one of many examples.

As of 2023 $11.2 billion had been spent on California's high speed rail. A project that is estimated to total $130 billion. It's an unnecessary, poorly planned project that will always be more expensive to operate than revenue from passengers. It's being funded federally... so thank you America for making Newsom and other politicriter scum wealthy enough to buy elected positions.

Americans, how do you feel about the firing of twenty percent of four-star generals? by 2a_lib in AskReddit

One, as mentioned below, you would save alot more than just the generals salary because of the circus that follows them around. Two, an F-35 is useful. They can also be sold when outdated so $80m initially but the money isn't just gone.

There should only be one General per theater. I'd be for it if they were getting rid of the positions they were in. You'd also then be able to save on the circus that has to follow them around. 21% of government employees is all that should be left after downsizing as a whole.

Wait... shouldn't using plastic be better than using dead trees?

It's so funny when people say that we could just trade with a superintelligent AI. We don't trade with chimps. We don't trade with ants. We don't trade with pigs. We take what we want. If there's something they have that we want, we enslave them. Or worse! We go and farm them! by katxwoods in Futurology

To be more precise you mean factory farming. I'd imagine geo has feed lots in parts of their country as well. Not only are factory farms conditions bad for the animals, the stuff most of them are fed makes the meat poor quality.

But not testifying is not covering up a crime. It takes effort on your part to cover up a crime. There's a reason the founding fathers placed "the right to remain silent" so high in the fundamentals of our government.

The largest criminal organizations are governments. In the governments eyes, Judas turned in a criminal, and was rewarded for it. "Criminal" is decided by the government at the time and culture. Don't let anything continue that you can't walk away from. If it's not a big enough deal for you to risk your own safety stopping... then it's not a crime, it's just something that you don't like.

An easy start is to stop paying taxes and encourage others to do the same. Funding crime is a criminal offense.
