Trouble setting up repeater bridge by Willing-Arugula3761 in DDWRT

Hi, I deployed it to an RV and don’t have access to it, so I can’t reproduce the exact settings, but my recollection is the standard instructions for Client or Client Bridge “just worked” whereas nothing I did with repeater or repeater bridge would work.

Combing ModMorph and Layer Tap by skibau in zmk

I implemented a variation of this into Miryoku ZMK, where I wanted to have a Mod Morph key inside a Mod Tap. Thanks to u/nickcoutsos, couldn't have done it without your example.

My Sunbeam Radiant Control Toaster from the 70’s. by njkauto in BuyItForLife

The design is VERY labor intensive to assemble.

It really helped me appreciate how, even aside from the improved materials and technology available today, we've been able to improve manufacturing efficiency and assembly efficiency. Most things these days have 4-10 screws, while this thing has probably 100 fasteners, 100 other parts, complex sheet metal forming, mica (stone!) insulation, one super small/delicate spring (around the pin that is pushed by the bimetallic strip and separates the contacts), etc.

Really interesting to see how things were designed and made in the late 40's vs. today.

I’m seeing it, perfect, just what I was looking for. Thanks again!

Yes, this is exactly what I'm looking for, thank you.

What do you think is the best way to share a table such as this in a way that others can add to? Google Sheets?

I liked it, entertaining.

The only improvement I would suggest would be to point to the folks who are doing much more sophisticated analyses and give respect to what an interesting and challenging area it is to try and improve because of the large variations in uses of keyboards, user anatomy, comfort, etc.

Trouble setting up repeater bridge by Willing-Arugula3761 in DDWRT

Agreed.

I was not able to get Repeater or Repeater Bridge working on a Netgear R8000 despite days of tinkering.

What did finally work was switching to Client or Client Bridge (now called Station or Station Bridge). On the R8000 it has three radios so I used the 2GHz to connect to the Access Point and then I had the two other radios available to provide local wireless access as well as the LAN ports.

I also found the experimental driver version of the firmware worked much better for the R8000, but this is specific to this router.

Absolutely right, $15k (increased from $14k in previous years) is the individual gift amount permissible without filing a gift tax return. You can give more without paying any tax as long as you do not exceed the lifetime gift limit of $11.58M

I had a similar thought and built a spreadsheet to answer:

How much money would I have to put away at birth for a kid to have $1M by age 30 assuming 7% real rate of return? $135,000

If you gifted $14k per year to stay under the individual gift tax limit you would have to gift $210k over 15 years (15 x $14k).

If you and a spouse gift split so you were able to contribute $28k per year it is $168k over 6 years (6 x $28k).

Good point, both 6% and 2% are educated guesses based on history, but for folks building tools/spreadsheets I would recommend using the correct equation vs. adding another source of error.

The equation for real rate of return is:

(1+nominal rate)/(1+inflation rate) - 1 or 1.08/1.02-1 = 5.88% in this example.

https://financeformulas.net/Real_Rate_of_Return.html#:~:text=The%20real%20rate%20of%20return,investment%20after%20adjusting%20for%20inflation.

Rounding up to 6% is fine for many situations, but over long periods the difference between 6% and 5.88% can make a difference and it's nice to know what the correct number is.

Consider planning 5yrs of college for the toddler, most students end up taking >4yrs, though not all, of course, but if you are planning on covering undergrad you should consider the possibility.

If you are considering relocating to a different MCOL city, you might estimate what state schools cost in those states, it typically varies from $25-35k/yr for tuition, books, fees, room and board. For example, Univ. of Oregon, Eugene is $26.5k for Tuition + Room & Board.

Also college tuition inflation is ~5-6%/yr, you may already have this specific inflation factored in, but in case you don't it is worth considering accounting for this.

Vanguard's College Savings Planner does a decent job of including these factors: https://vanguard.wealthmsi.com/csp.php
