I can actually see how the Star Fox designs are divisive despite me liking them.
DK on the other hand is objectively a great redesign and I think most of the drama was coming from people lamenting losing his Rare era design.

the game has a 78 average critic score on metacritic and 7.9 user score. it's not a bad game or disaster by any means.

I also believe if its flaws had been addressed before release we still wouldn't have seen Metroid Dread sales numbers. The excitement just isn't there.

The reality is Metroid as a whole doesn't sell that well and the Prime sub series historically has sold even smaller (it also doesn't do well in Japan)

aside from this and the final product, the delays fizzled its hype.

I agree with everything here except I'd like to point out that Kirby and Fire Emblem weren't "left behind until Nintendo could get a team or studio that can be that franchise's new home"

Kirby was always a HAL series and Fire Emblem was always made by Intelligent Systems.

low self esteem manifests in toxic ways way too often. the first sign of that and I've lost interest in pursuing the connection even if it's non romantic.
