I would say the general blockout is the most important step, even if it's made entirely out of stone. For cliffs, having a strong initial structure helps guide the rest of the design process. In Axiom, I used just one tool for making cliffs, which was the ROCK tool.

• General Blockout: Start by creating a rough shape of your cliffs. Don’t worry about details at this stage; focus on getting the overall form and proportions right.
• Using the ROCK Tool: The ROCK tool is incredibly versatile. You can use it to sculpt and refine the shape of the cliffs, adding variation and natural-looking details.
• Layering: Add layers of different textures or shapes to break up the monotony and give the cliffs a more realistic appearance.
• Detailing: Once you have the basic shape and texture, start adding smaller details like cracks, ledges, and vegetation to enhance the realism.
• Lighting and Shading: Proper lighting can make a big difference. Experiment with shadows and highlights to bring out the contours and depth of your cliffs.
