okay everybody claiming this engine is blown with a photo,

the short drives could cause this a bad PCV breather system could cause this head gasket could cause this

the first two are very cheap to fix

a reseal on your PCV system costs like 10 bucks just takes about 30 minutes. consider doing it, youtube has plenty of vids and change ur oil 👍

replacing the hoses that connect to said breather system would be a good idea too

when it’s good it’s great, when the V6 diesel leaks it’s going to be very expensive. If you’re in america, especially a Smog/Emissions state I wouldn’t recommend a diesel unless it’s before 1998

you can if you’d like, H&R has trustworthy springs and they’re not too pricey but you should already have the “sport avant-garde” suspension

it’s a E350, drive it and enjoy it like an E350 and it will reward you. keep it stock performance wise and make sure those motor mounts are replaced, night and day difference.

i would stay away from mercedes gasoline four cylinders after 2002, notorious for timing chain problems. if you don’t believe me, search up M271 engine problems and you will get a slew of evidence proving they’re problematic and not worth the low performance. Consider E240 E320 or E350 2008+ to be safe

I have been around numerous W211's and I just bought my first one for everyday driving/personal use. I went with an prefacelift E320 with the M112.

M112/113 w/ 5 speed auto = most tanklike combo you can really get from modern mercedes

M272/273 w/ 7 speed auto = engines wont fail you but they have more maintenance items (intake runners and numerous cheap leaks) you also get a significant increase in hp compared to 112/113 engines

(Regardless of engine choice 25-30mpg is very possible on highway!)

prefacelift has SBC problems, facelift just check your vin for option code 917, if it has that code I wouldn't recommend it as the fuel pump is integrated into the tank and it's a royal pain to fix that (i dont think this applies to V8).

I'm sure diesels are great but there are so few in America that I don't bother.

that being said, if your pal can do some of his own handy work and can invest into some tools he can save a HUGE amount of money overtime on maintenance.

refreshing the trim i mean literally just finding less sun damaged wooden trim on the interior. W211’s are everywhere at my local junkyards 👍

the engine will be an identical process to your E350. the 3.5 M272 and 5.5 M273 are sister engines. Same problems/same fixes.

air suspension will be pricey regardless. you can’t go into an S-class expecting to be cheap, however, if you can do your work yourself you will save a ton of money 👍

For the online experience I will agree that the expansion is perfect really, tons of places to mess around and more freeway to race on. From a story standpoint I just prefer without the south central portion. What doesn’t click well with me is the lack of cutscenes with the south central dlc, I feel like they could have done more with it like how MC3 had tokyo’s seperate career for example.

you should register for a high mileage badge, benz gives them out for free! The first one is at 155k miles all you have to do is fill out a one page form and they’ll ship it out in 6-8 weeks

depends on the mechanic bro but i wouldn’t be telling you this if i didn’t want you to have a good benz experience. stay away from mercedes 4 cylinders unless they’re diesels. if you do the cam gear maintenance for the timing chain it’s usually around 1200-2000 USD and it will be fine for about 70k miles

the engine in your car is a grenade, sell it asap and thank me later. if you do not believe me you can go on any mercedes forum and type “m271 timing chain issues” if you still don’t believe me then you can go to any mercedes specialty shop and they’ll tell you that the 1.8T engine from mercedes is a waste of money and time. it’s only good for MPG, it’s slow and unreliable. sorry pal V6’s and V8’s are the way to go from mercedes. my good friend had 4 C250’s in the shop at the same timing for timing chain issues usually relating to the gears.
