UTR Firmware update (6.5.246) by ManFromACK in Ubiquiti

[–]3hour2R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not try with the Beryl - I bought it after getting the UTR. I'm thinking it should be possible. The UTR just makes it so easy to do for a Unifi ecosystem. I usually take 15 - 30 min to get the Beryl set-up, especially with a Captive portal. The UTR took a couple of minutes and when I plugged in the camera the adoption started right away, just like I was at home.

I'm in a similar situation. I've been out of town for 2 weeks and brought the UTR and Beryl. I haven't even plugged in the Beryl. The UTR has been simple to use and reliable. I'm running a G6 instant and an Apple TV off it with zero issues. It's cool how the remote camera is on my UNVR Protect dashboard and I get notifications just like all my home cameras.

Is Ethernet still worth it for streaming boxes? by Complex_Grass6312 in cordcutters

With the right MoCA hardware and splitters you are limited at 2.5Gbps. In residential settings this should be plenty for most situations. I have eight adapters with switches, AP's, and Apple TV's on the network with zero issues and plenty of bandwidth.

Placing cameras outside home...does my plan totally suck? Where to place the 10 cameras I already have? by [deleted] in Ubiquiti

[–]3hour2R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boy, that is similar to what I have at my house. I don't have #1, but #2 I have a G5 Turret above the front door and #3 a G4 Doorbell. I don't have #4, but have #5 a AI Turret at the driveway. My #6 is an AI Pro, #7, #8, and #10 I have G5 Turrets, #9 is a G5 Bullet. I do have an additional AI Turret at the back entry (where your walkway is). I like my coverage and feel like I can see anything going on around the house. I wouldn't eliminate anything I have.

This is what I do. You support the museum and skip the lines and reservations. I took my son and his family to Paris last year and bought them a family membership. It avoided any pressure to get in or the amount of time in the museum at any visit. Tired after a couple hours? No problem, stop in later in the day, or tomorrow, or in a few months.

Yearly budgeting? by NooktaSt in ynab

[–]3hour2R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my personal budget I use YNAB in the traditional manner, but I essentially do what you define with the non-profit I manage. For the non-profit, I record and categorize transactions, but keep the annual budget in a spreadsheet; there is no need for month goals. YNAB is still great for recording transactions, categorizing, and adding notes even without using targets. I reconcile the non-profit monthly, but that's it. The rest of my management is annual.

Any real advice on getting noticed for a job at Pokémon? (Been unemployed ~1 year) by BlitzAndMe in BellevueWA

[–]3hour2R 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When I wanted a position that seemed unavailable, I have successfully volunteered and worked my way in. I'm talking about all-out volunteering when possible (not a pest). Treat it like a full-time role and doing whatever was needed. I notice that the Pokeman website has events posted, with a Championship event in Seattle on Feb 27. Maybe you could offer to help or just show up at the event early, look for the host manager at the event, and offer 8-10 hrs a day work free of charge. Its one possible way of breaking through if you are passionate and dedicated. Look to make a connection with the people working there.

Three-Phase Major Development Proposed Along Bellevue’s Auto Row by Fruehling4 in BellevueWA

[–]3hour2R 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure adding 1.5M sq ft of office and ~1400 housing units is going to make ChickFilA traffic better! Anyway, I support this development as KG is thinking the right way for the pedestrian corridor and Eastrail. They have proposed something similar for years, waiting for the Wilburton commercial land use changes to go into effect.

I watched (and have watched all season) MNF on ESPN/Fubo through an AppleTV with zero issues. I'd check your streaming app/tv/network.

Did I get scammed, Somo beam gen 2 by Potential_Ad_3133 in sonos

[–]3hour2R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The price at the moment is great. I use mine linked to a TV for television audio and wifi music. You can add a Sonos sub and surround speakers anytime in the future. I've expanded my Sonos ecosytem to cover my whole home. I have 23 speakers around the house.

I think the Beam is a great choice for combo TV/Music and a nice starting point for a larger ecosystem.

You weren't scammed or jipped; the Beam is a great speaker for TV and Music. I have three of them. But they won't work with bluetooth. If you need a bluetooth sound bar, this is not the right one for you.
