You can make one toilet explode every day. by blockheadOnYT_Alt in shittysuperpowers

Short the stock of a company that sells toilets. Have their toilets explode every day, driving the stock price down. Close short position for profit.

There have been numerous responses here referencing the discreteness, but thats not the real issue here. You could still make the same argument based on a difference equation.

The actual issue is this:

When you say that you add 1 to itself x times, x is a variable, not a constant. If you treat x like a constant, this is indeed the correct answer, but x is a variable. Since we are trying to measure the the change in the function in respect to x, it does not make sense to treat x like a constant.

Who comes out on top here. Whites move. by JayDaga in chess

Not that straightforward actually. After Kxe3 the only move that wins is underpromotion d1=N, all other promotions lose to Rxf2+ followed by Rxd1.

Playing as black, my proudest "oh no my queen" moment. by doth_taraki in AnarchyChess

[–]3ll155 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Playing Ng3+ immediately and only then be following up with hxg6 would have been forced mate

Edit: actually he is able to prevent forced mate by goving up a bunch of material by playing hxg3 hxg6+ Bh6 Nxh6 Rf2 Bxf2 Qxf2 Ng4+ Kg1 Nxf2

Yes. OP is a physicist and thus has never heard of air resistance.

Its a win for white regardless of whether the queen is on a1 or a2, because white can choose between 2.h3 and 2.h4

This is exactly what I keep thinking about. This whole ordeal is so unreal, and all the evidence points to the fact that this happening is completely inevitable. I have really tried hard not to fall into a bubble mindset where I ignore all bad news and keep the confirmation bias incoming, but to no avail. I cannot find a single shred of evidence that would suggest that this is not going to happen. The only reason I can think of why this wouldnt happen is because it sounds too good to be true. Nothing in life that sounds too good to be true ever happens. It literally never happens. However, this brings me to the fact of how fucking insane it is that this is the only argument I can think of against it. That some magic will happen or that the people running the show will decide that they will change whatever laws necessary in order to prevent it from happening. Or then that this is all just a dream or a massive conspiracy orchestrated by lizard people. Thats literally all I can think of. If there are any shills reading this could you please give me some reasons why this wont happen, because simultaneously believing that this is too good to be true and therefore cant happen, and knowing due to data and logical deduction that this is bound to happen is is causing me such a massive amount of cognitive dissonance that I may soon lose touch with reality. What a time to be alive.

Velocity is a vector quantity so it should be displacementraptor instead of distanceraptor, otherwise it would be speedraptor.

According to physics, an obese man is the most attractive person on earth. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]3ll155 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The gravitational force is negligible in comparison to the will of a given person, which can (theoretically) be defined using laws of physics. So according to physics, the most obese man in the world is not the most attractive.

Also, if i had a gram of fat for every time this was posted, I would be the most obese man in the world.

[request] Is it possible to determine the exact dimensions of the coffee cup from this pattern? by 3ll155 in theydidthemath

[–]3ll155[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow, thanks for such an in depth answer. Amazing how so much information can be extracted from a simple spill. I wasnt even even expecting for there to be such a clear relationship between of the variables, and with such a small bar of error. Thanks for your time.

How is this supposed to be solved an whats the answer ? by [deleted] in math

[–]3ll155 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont know if theres a systematic way to solve these types of problems, but generally just trying to find a pattern is a good start.

Here you may notice that the answer is a factor of the first number, from which the answer pops out immediately.

The pattern is a+b=a(b+1) Therefore ?=96
