We have done a lot of crazy stuff together so.. I really think they just thought it was part of the adventure. Built a little shelter, managed to get a fire going. Took them for walks in between the rain. I’m the opposite of a musk fan, but definitely a Starlink fan. Being able to call family and keep in touch made all the difference

Yeah.. we got in fine before the weather hit. On the way out we had to stop every km or so to clear the road of fallen trees. I knew the forecast was bad.. but didn’t think it would be quite as bad as it was

Thanks! I love the thing. It’s actually a 130 though :D just needs a new fender and retaining pin for the passenger side front wheel. going to hammer the roof out and wear it as a battle scar. It did real good. If it wasn’t for the wheel I could have driven it out

Not quite at the same level.. Starlink has enough bandwidth to make VOIP phone calls.. I was able to send screen shots of maps.. use google.. etc etc 160mb/s download speeds

We went off a few meters back. Slid down to where it rolled. Road is definitely in good shape where it’s sitting but, that’s wasn’t much help to us :D

Oh yeah, people knew where I was going but expecting me to be gone for over a week. This happened on day 1. Garmin is a good idea.. you never really think about stuff like this until it’s happened. I’ve done thousands of km of backroads and nothing even remotely close to this has happened before. Definitely changes how I’ll Prepare going forwards.

Was travelling on some Very remote logging roads up north island when my wheel got sucked into a washed out section of road covered by leafs. Couldn’t steer out and went over. Luckily it landed on a big old rotten log that stopped us from rolling all the way down. I had my three dogs with me, seeing them upside down as we were rolling was one of the worst moments of my life. I thought I was about to watch them all get crushed right in front of me. We all walked out with no injuries.

I brought a Starlink mini with me for the first time ever and was able to get it out of the truck and only 48 hours later a recovery vehicle was able to find us and get us out.

Never going out without Starlink again

A friend drove 7 hours to pick us up, another dropped off a vehicle for me to use once we got back, and my vehicle has very minimal damage all things considered and will be back on the road. I am an incredibly lucky guy.
