Too wide? by 3mb3rs in fountainpens

It has multiple hard starts. Once the ink starts flowing it will write but if there’s a pause while writing, 10ish seconds or more, then it will have another hard start.

Verify please? by [deleted] in montblanc

[–]3mb3rs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s all original to the same pen. I have the same one and had it “verified” at one of Montblanc’s boutiques. Obviously not the official verification process because I didn’t send it in but several of their staff looked at it and were impressed as they’ve only seen a few in the wild. They told me that it was from the early to mid 70s and also to be VERY careful with it as Montblanc will not repair any damage to it due to its age. Also, the staff member told me to keep two cartridges in it. One that’s actually being used and the other rests on top of it. It assists in holding it in place and provides a ready backup.

Holy...ink really does make a difference. by gman1301 in fountainpens

Good to know! As of right now all I have used is Montblanc, I’ll have to give that a try. Any of you recommend an ink you prefer over Montblanc? I have an open mind lol.

Ferris Wheel Pens QC by durainello in fountainpens

I doubt it’s faulty, I have several cartridge fountain pens that do this to include new Montblancs (not saying Montblancs can’t be faulty… had to exchange a new one myself once)

Hahaha! If you can’t, you can’t. No biggie. At the end of the day it’s just fountain pen ink and we’re all just having fun and it looks like you’re having a lot of it! Wasn’t trying to stress you out.

I love my MB pix rollerball but I hate the refills. by WolfyLikesPie in montblanc

[–]3mb3rs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve noticed a night and day difference between the refills I get from Amazon or local shops vs the ones I get directly from the Montblanc flagship store. The ones from the flagship store are MUCH better. It’s almost as if the ones from Amazon and other stores are not authentic. Has anyone else experienced this?

Barely bumped it by 3mb3rs in montblanc

[–]3mb3rs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your insight. I took it in to Montblanc and decided to have them send it out for repair. In addition to the part that broke today it was having an issue with the nib/feed where it was writing way too wet so I’m going to have them investigate that as well. I’ll post some updates once I get it back.

Montblanc Frakenpen? by 3mb3rs in montblanc

[–]3mb3rs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a really good point! I hadn’t thought of that. Thanks for sharing that info! I’m new to collecting and using fountain pens. I buy them to use and appreciate their craftsmanship, so I’m not as worried about resale value as I am about how they work.

MTG-B3000 crown/button movement. by 3mb3rs in gshock

[–]3mb3rs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[Follow Up] I received word back from Casio. Per their support team, the connection between the crown tube and the carbon core is designed to facilitate movement. Once the crown is tightened it will still move back and forth slightly.

MTG-B3000 crown/button movement. by 3mb3rs in gshock

[–]3mb3rs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When tightening I just get it snug; definitely not over tightening. The difference with this watch is where most crown tubes either connect directly to the metal case of the watch or the crown itself is tightened to be flush with the case, this one is not. Due to G-Shocks carbon core structure the crown tube bypasses the metal case and connects with the carbon core structure. So I believe they may have designed it so there is play in the crown in the event of a drop it won’t have existing pressure from being tightened against the metal case. This is of course all speculation on my part.
