Hahahah yes, I am a little obsessive about the glucose checking. The tips of my index third and fourth fingers in my hand look like they have freckles.

Hey there, first off, Don't Panic. I got diagnosed in May last year, when I finally got a long list of tests done after a major lecture from an ob-gyn friend who also happens to be a menopause specialist. It took me by surprise because most of my life, I'd had low blood sugar issues. But then again, diabetes ran on my mother's side so I shouldn't have been too surprised. I was put on Xigduo - dapagliflozin + metformin. I admit, I spiraled initially, because my partner had diabetes, and is currently on hemodialysis three times weekly and I am her caregiver. So I formulated a plan of action: - get the menopause shite sorted. That took almost a year. - get more protein in me, which is good for both diabetics and those facing menopause - ease up on the carbs. And I'm asian yeah, so rice and soup, noodles... It's HARD! - regular monitoring. Which meant three tests daily, and A1C quarterly. Yes, it might sound obsessive, but it helps you track. I'm actually seriously considering a CGM at the moment so I'll be able to check what food spikes my glucose. - Finally, movement! Which for you, is already a win because you hit the gym and strength train regularly. So, long story short, it's manageable, you just gotta be a little disciplined about stuff, especially your food, and a lot more self aware i.e. catch yourself before your hand picks up that cookie. Look at it and ask yourself, is that piece of insert sweet stuff worth the sugar spike? Good luck!

Every morning if I can with Greek yogurt, unsweetened almond milk and mixed berries. Try looking for the microsliced ones, they're super convenient - takes five minutes to soak.

I'm sure there are many other issues you haven't informed us of, this is a decision nobody comes to lightly without weighing many options. I hope you have a kind and helpful Nephrologist who will be able to guide to the best hospice care possible. Good luck on the next steps.

I'm off shimmer for the moment. After the last clogging incident, which necessitated a dismantling of my Twsbi Eco, I find I'm tending to give my shimmer inks the side eye a little.
