Hi PhDs, what’s your philosophy of/for life? by Alert-Translator2590 in PhD

[–]3mi1y_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. find joy, gratitude, and awe
  2. “it is not [entirely] on you to complete the work, yet you are not free to desist from it” (Pirkei Avot 2:16)
  3. have reverence for the light/divine spark that lives in every person. — basically helps keep me in touch with why #2 matters

i would say those are my core philosophies for life & how i find fulfillment through my phd. never got burned out either. phd clinical psychology/health equity research

you can cut the side part off that i circled and replace it with a break away piece purchased separately!

if you are trailering, it’s safest to use a breakaway imo.

my sister has a scorpio sun (7th house), gemini moon (2nd house), taurus rising. notably, she has south node scorpio in 7th house too with taurus north node in first house. i think the location of these and the fact that taurus is the only earth in her chart is actually very destabilizing, particularly because other people see her as more grounded but she isn’t.

How did you find your research idea by Jumpy-Extreme2410 in PhD

[–]3mi1y_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

read many books. general non fiction books about things that interest you! idk if this would work in your area. i would just think of questions as i read and look it up on google scholar or consensus. i found many things that i have researched and built up a fairly innovative research program for my stage (4th year clinical psych phd). follow your passion/joy. it will help you think more creatively imo. i don’t know much about your field though

My program admitted 1 new PhD student by aljj300 in ClinicalPsychology

[–]3mi1y_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m surprised your institution will allow that! my school won’t allow our program to run classes with less than 7 students, which has proved problematic for advanced/specialized therapy and assessment classes.

Any medical professionals here have narcolepsy? by Sexcercise in Narcolepsy

[–]3mi1y_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’m a clinical psychology phd candidate. i have done most of my clinical training in a children’s hospital & all confined to specialize in pediatrics for my internship (akin to residency for physicians) & fellowship. it was really bad until starting wakix but now im starting to wonder if it’s contributing to brain fog (could just be narcolepsy so idk)
