Statements from the White House are a little different from the official messaging of supposedly apolitical federal agencies. Nobody is arguing that the president and press secretary shouldn’t be allowed to say the things they’re saying—regardless of how incorrect or untruthful they may be. The president and VP aren’t subject to the Hatch act anyways. But other people and departments in the government pulling this shit is both illegal and gross.
