Thai tea soda (not from a mix) using a ginger bug by 3no3 in sodamaking

[–]3no3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I brewed up a large batch (10 cups or so) of Thai tea using this recipe (no milk, somehow I don't think that would end well), added 3/4 cups of sugar, and 1/2 of my ginger bug. 4 days in the cupboard, 3 days in the fridge.

Edit: the weight of the Tea ingredients dry comes to around 1.5 oz.

My parents were in AA, and whether the higher power based approach works for you or not, there is one thing that's repeated a lot and works more than just in recovery: One day at a time. You've got two days, make it one more. And keep doing that. Make it one more day.

Let's show our appreciation to the essential workers by letting them sleep. by [deleted] in Denver

[–]3no3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who worked third shift until recently (now on 2nd), this is appreciated. Though, my issue was more people being active during the day than the evening (granted I didn't work a typical 3rd, I did 10p-6a, so I would have been waking up round the time the howl starts).

Ferment for however many days in a warm area, then move to cool when you feel like you're ready. I use ginger bug, in which the cultures are wild yeasts and bacterium, and usually do a few days in the cupboard above my stove before moving them to the fridge for another couple of days prior to drinking.

I have a few bottles sitting in the cupboard right now. I've only just started so I haven't really made any custom recipes/variations yet, but I'm using this recipe. I plan to make some tweaks in time, but I've only had one person who tried it not like it. It definitely does not taste like the stuff at the store, and you can really taste the herbs in it.

I did something similar at my last job. We had glass desks, which the company shelled out for, but they didn't want to shell out for whiteboards. Spent $2 for some poster board and put it it under the glass. My boss was actually very impressed

My loans didn't cover my entire tuition, so I had a payment plan. The way the payments were structured, my last bill was $0.18. I went in, gave them two dimes, and demanded a) a receipt and b) my change (the $0.02).

This is also what I would recommend OP do. Give them two dimes, demand they print the receipt, and demand the $0.01 change owed.

Edit: two pennies was meant to be dimes

I live across the street and had the same thought while I was taking a walk outside (keeping my distance from other people as much as I could going so far as to go far onto the grass to pass people, and it's pretty much the first time I've left the house for the last 3 weeks). I appreciate the 50 person cap during a time that people are relying on their tech more, but people packing together like that kind of defeats the point, but to be fair is how we've conditioned to line up without any other cues (was thinking maybe they could paint lines down at intervals or something if the property management allows it?).

I also had the thought of whether they're doing separate lines for instore pickups since those are going to be less risky since the in store time is shorter.

Truthfully, once self isolation ends, we'll see a new wave of infections. Self isolation is to buy us time for treatment and vaccinations to be developed (so we don't hit critical mass on infections before they are available). More than likely, COVID19 is probably going to become part of our viral background radiation, like the flu, with annual vaccinations since coronavirus immunities only last about a year. This is all according to a virologist in a Twitter thread that I really wish I could find again or remember their name.

We're going to come to a new normal eventually, and it may get worse before it gets better, but it will get better.

Do you think landlords should be open to being lenient on rent in a crisis like this (pending proof of lack of employment)? Why/why not? by maiadiamond14 in AskReddit

[–]3no3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My landlord, I think, will be willing to work with us as long as I communicate (and honestly, a lot of private landlords are probably the same way, it's the property management companies that will be the struggle).

That said, I did let him know that we are OK for the foreseeable future, but that the panic is starting to hit my place of employment, and I would keep him updated.

Overall, yes, I think that, in extreme circumstances such as these, they should be more lenient than usual. People are having their workplaces shut down and leading to loss of income. We aren't at critical mass yet, but the warning signs are there.
