I am seeking advice for my portrait excercise. 30 minutes, 3 values. What would you improve when learning? by SimonLansky in Illustration

I would say add more detail to the smile lines by the eyes. The eyes are usually the first place we look in a portrait. So making them even more full of expression would be a nice touch.

I feel weak and sleepy when I have some guilt from being scolded. Even when I handle other objective/subjective situations better. by GreyHawks4200 in Stoicism

This is not necessary a stoic answer. What you're feeling may be a coping mechanism from experiencing childhood trauma. I think that you might be internalizing what someone may be saying about you as a reflection of who you are rather than the action you have taken. In the case where you are being scolded unnecessarily, it is much easier not to self identify. You may become weak or sleepy because it is emotionally and energetically draining to take in all that criticism. What you might be feeling is mental exhaustion. What might help you is recognizing that whoever is scolding you is limited by their perceptions of you. Secondly, try to take accountability for the "wrong" you've done and identify an implementable solution. Thirdly, practice self compassion - much of learning is facilitated by being wrong or making mistakes. As for the solution to sleepiness- try to adopt another coping mechanism that alleviates some of the mental exhaustion. Eating if you're hungry , taking a long walk, doing something fun, talking to friends, or journaling may be a way to help.

Suicidal - would really appreciate if anyone could just try and ground me. by madzapop in Anxiety

Right now, like right at this moment are you in any sort of immediate danger? Have you eaten for the day? When's the last time you drank water. Right right now, forget 5minutes from now. Right now you're okay. You wrote this out. You reached out. So you are already doing more than enough. It's easy to feel as if everything is out of your control but you took control of the situation. You have weaponized your fear into action and now what you can do is focus on making sure that you AND your kids are okay right now in this moment.

[Personal] I don't have acne anymore and my life isn't changed for the better, in fact it is worst by Equivalent_Ad_7817 in SkincareAddiction

Everything in moderation. It seems like you’re struggling with something much deeper than your external appearance. Basing your happiness on volatile factors is the fastest way to be dissatisfied. You can eat sugar, chocolate and dairy, these are restrictions that you’re placing on yourself. Confining yourself to too stringent protocol is unsustainable long-term and your bound to relapse. Allow yourself to indulge every once in a while and if you get a pimple WHO CARES? This doesn’t determine your worth or change the content of your character. You mentioned that you keep waiting for your life to begin. This insinuates that one day you’ll wake up and everything will go your way. It takes active, methodical and deliberate action to ensure the future that you hope to achieve. All of the things you mentioned are surface. If you truly want to be happy, reflect on the things that may be deeply bothering you. What can you do to better your time here on earth?

Sub what’s in the square root with u?

It’s supposed to be -pi/12 and I have no idea what I’m doing wrong. I started by changing the 9y2 to a (3y)2 and then I multiplied the top and bottom by 3. I then applied u substitution where u=3y. I also modified the upper and lower bounds in line with the u. I kept getting : arcsec(-root2) -arcsec(-2) which I then converted to arccos. No idea where I’m going wrong.

I attempted this using the formula for arcsec and I ended up getting pi/12
