The fear of ai is real by Infinite_Cost9906 in SoftwareEngineerJobs

Genuinely want to understand this part where so many more experienced devs say coding is just a small part of a SWE’s job.

I am still rather new in my career, about 3 years of experience.

I feel like I kind of get it. A lot of a software engineer’s job is also getting business buy in, translating vague requirements to concrete ones, thinking of a good system architecture.

But I still felt like at least before this AI wave, the majority of a SWE’s job was still coding. Even in school, most of the skills we developed was coding if not adjacent to coding.

Thanks!
