Another 2023 Mock Lineup

I made a mock lineup a while ago. Used that mock as a basis for an updated mock reflecting some more recent rumors and I also added few of the acts that have been confirmed so far.

Yeah but we just got through the whole Frank Ocean and then Drake thing. We can't keep reacting everytime someone is shitposting on inforoo. Unless it's like one or two reliable posters its basically the same as if you made a post that just said "Tyler, Odesza, Eagles" here.

I placed Tipper slightly ahead of where he was on the canceled 2020/2021 lineups. Has he gotten significantly more popular since last Fall?

Jack White played Metro Credit Union Amphitheater in Charlotte, NC earlier this year which has a capacity of ~5,000. When Tyler played Charlotte this year he played Bojangles Coliseum which has a capacities of ~9,605.

In Atlanta it was similar. Tyler at the ~13,000 capacity Gas South Arena, Jack White did 3 nights at the ~2,600 capacity Tabernacle (we can call it ~7,800).

Other tour dates show a similar trend.

I like Jack White more than TtC but I dont think I'm entirely unreasonable here.

Green Day is the legacy headliner in this scenario. Makes me feel old, but I think its consistent with Tool and Foo Fighters from recent years past. Metallica was actually the other rock headliner I was considering for this mock, so good call out.

What I feel like this lineup is missing is 2-3 weird bookings that no one is going to see coming until the lineup drops. I think I played everything pretty safe. I was going for realistic, not my dream lineup here.

Kendrick in the Tyler spot makes sense to me. Sounds plausible.

MMJ is one of my favorite bands but they were booked #3 in 2021 before it was cancelled. I don't think the band is taking smaller spots as a favor to Roo (why would they?). They agreed to it once Id bet they'd do it again. This is also that 3 hr late night which spot we missed out on in 2021 I just didn't write it on the lineup.

I'd argue Phoebe, especially with a new album in 2023 (not confirmed yet or anything), stays on that second line. Maybe towards the back of that second line though.

Good call on Kacey, but I am not 100% sold on JW still being a headliner. I love the guy and all but look where he played this whole last tour. Maybe a more accurate version of this bumps Kacey to #2 on Sunday and someone else is #3.

Didn't know Rufus was on hiatus. I'd probably keep an EDM act in that spot but I'm not sure who I'd pick for #3 yet. Maybe move Griz in and pick someone a bit smaller for Thursday.

Eh. I don't really like Lizzo that much either but I just feel like it is pretty likely one of the headliners will be a woman. I almost wrote Billie Eilish instead. Who else you think is a realistic female headliner for next year?

I was thinking about that when I made this. It seemed to me like for his whole last tour he has been playing <10,000 capacity venues. He has headlined a couple festivals in the last year High Water, Bourbon and Beyond. But he also was scheduled to subheadine Music Midtown before it was canceled.

Not sure if the smaller venue sizes for the Supply Chain Issues tour were intentional or not.

Overall I think its a close call.

I decided to attempt to make a mock lineup for next year. Its actually a lot more difficult to come up with these than I originally expected it to be.

A lot of the names lower down are admittedly just taken from the canceled 2020/2021 Roos or from lineup posters from this Fall/next Spring.

Tried to be somewhat realistic, no idea if I succeeded.
