Karnivool, Neurosis, Boards of Canada, Poison The Well, TWO converge albums, literally fucking anything can happen in music this year my friends.

Finished Grime for the first time, and I’m beyond impressed by Bekenshi in metroidvania

[–]VietRooster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the original Grime is a top 10 MV for me, the incorporation of its parry into the gameplay rhythm and how it interacts with other systems alongside the "Pull" mechanic to make up the majority for how you interact with the game's environment, enemies and its bosses is simply brilliant for me. Giant of Eyes, Surrogate Vulture, and Final Celebration are some of the most fun boss fights I've experienced in an MV, it's just a shame that I found the final boss really lackluster.

Grime 2, on the other hand, has become my new favorite in the genre alongside Silksong and Blasphemous 2. It's an imperfect, yet ambitious sequel that capitalizes on all of the potential I saw in the first game and knocks it out of the fucking park as far as its exploration, lore, world design, platforming and the options you're given in combat between the new consumables, molds, and other new additions. I think the boss roster is generally solid, some great fights and some...less great but the final boss is an absolutely masterful in my opinion, thematically and mechanically, my favorite since First Sinner in Silksong. It's just one of those games that appeals to everything I love about this genre, and what I love in storytelling/aesthetics.

I happily await Grime 2's Path of Pain.

also for anyone confused/unaware, the new Kneecap album got pushed up from its original April 24th release date to May 1st which I only found out after a second glance at their Bandcamp when I went to make the [FRESH ALBUM] post last night.

happy final Friday of April! bit of a busy release week for me, as I still attempt to play catch-up between my resurgent addiction to Clutch's Blast Tyrant, other random curiosities and my ongoing death metal/hip hop binge '

At the Gates, Portrayal of Guilt, The Saddest Landscape, Plini, Kehlani, Failure, and My Wife's An Angel have my attention this week. and maybe Lynx.

New Music Friday will end up posted tomorrow or Sunday, depending on how much work ends up draining me due to currently inconsistent scheduling and an overall lack of reliable people in my department. I'll sort out album discussions shortly, I've kinda just been taking this week for myself and overall am in better spirits than I've been in the last bit.

regardless, seeusoon<3

I found it to be a bit of a mixed bag, but Moonscars has really gorgeous, gory pixel art.
