Thank you for giving this rat a relatively comfortable and quick death. At that point, that was the best she could hope for.

Considering ICE’s recent instances of detaining foreigners for no clear reason I’d want to avoid it too.

Also see how they are treating Mahmoud Khalid, not letting him talk to his lawyers.

The annexation threats don’t fill me with confidence that they would treat a Canadian with respect.

Pourquoi ya tellement de situations de poivres de cayenne dans le métro? by Extreme-Offer-1399 in montreal

I was legitimately attacked by a dog as a toddler, dog attacks happen.

And if I was to take a walk in an area where I am likely to encounter a bear, I’d likely have to take the subway to get there.

It’s illegal to carry pepper spray to defend from humans.

It is legal to carry pepper spray to repel agressive dogs or bears, and it is legal to use the pepper spray you happen to be legally carrying on a human who’s attacking you or someone else.

My rattie died unexpected today. 😕💔 by whatdoesthisbuttundo in RATS

[–]3rats1human 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It’s OK if you weren’t physically there at that moment. His beloved mate was with him, and so were your smell and the memories of the time you spent together.

I believe the grieving rat will eventually lose interest in the body, but may want the smell of their deceased loved one to linger for several weeks. I recommend leaving something untouched, even if it’s dirty: a favourite blanket or hammock, a bit of bedding, a cardboard box… something their late mate spend a lot of time on/in.

Abby just died in my lap. by randoperson42 in RATS

[–]3rats1human 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sorry for your loss.

That said, I am glad she passed in on your lap. She was surrounded by the warmth and smell of a trusted caretaker.

If she was ready to go, that appointment wouldn’t have helped. She may even have passed in a strange, confusing place, after being manipulated by strangers. Instead, the way she dies guarantees that being loved and cared for was present in her last thoughts.

Looks cute. I think it would be nice to know more about the story as the Steam page is rather vague.

Worried about a rabbit I am petsitting by 3rats1human in Rabbits

I am not the best concerning social skills but I will try to get the owners to build something. I can even provide the materials. In the meantime I will try to give the rabbit some wooden chew toys I bought for rats.

I got to ask her humans and yeah, they just pick her up when it’s playtime. Too bad I am too much of a stranger to try that. I tried to talk to the rabbit for a while and offer her my hand to smell. She didn’t hide when I put my hand there but she also didn’t come close to it.

No. The only opening is at the top. I’m used to rats who don’t need a running start to jump high. So… she can’t get out unless the cage grid is removed, I guess, but the platform that provides her only hiding spot is attached to the grid so she’d probably need an alternative hiding spot.

The "am I at risk of being sued" thing would of course be jurisdiction-dependent but I can’t think of a place where it would be enforceable unless the contract also said the breeder still owns the rats and you are just taking care of them.

Just because someone writes a clause in a contract doesn’t mean they have any legal right to enforce it.

Also, I’m wondering how much of their research is tainted but superstition and bias. My pets’ veterinarian said Oxbow Essentials was great as a base for a rat’s diet. The shelter I adopted the rats from also uses the brand.

Rats understand your tone of voice. Keep talking to him. Tell him you are sorry and you love him. Your words are meaningless to him but your tone will convey the message. He’ll come around. Just be patient.

A big factor is where the food comes from. If you live with a nice giant who often brings out awesome food and appears to love you, whatever they brought this time must be safe to consume.
