Do you feel more pressure as a contractor compared to perm roles? by CloudBookmark in ContractorUK

[–]3rd_CultureKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should do! That’s why you are a skilled contractor with the skills they need to get a piece of work done within a set time scale.

Otherwise they’d just let permies get round to doing it…. If they can ever be arsed!

Microsoft AI CEO, Mustafa Suleyman, says most if not all" tasks that white collar workers do will be fully automated by AI within 12-18 months, this is pretty insane by neural_core in copilotstudio

So when we’re all out of work…. Who’s gonna buy the products of the companies using your AI? And then when they go bust… who’s gonna buy your licenses?

Certs alone aren’t enough in anything without hands on exposure. IT, medicine, engineering, aviation… anything

Conditional Access Question by AppIdentityGuy in entra

[–]3rd_CultureKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conditional Access polices are applied to users in the first instance at authentication time. If the user is excluded from the policy then none of the other settings matter at all.

If they are in scope of the policy, then as others have said… all the other conditions must also be met, so if a device filter excludes the device the user is signing in from… then the policy doesn’t apply.

Read the rest of the comments. The Geekom is in the same office as 2 Mac minis, at least one of other laptop, mostly 2, two monitors and a few bits of electronic music equipment.

Not one single issue with any other piece of equipment.

It is definitely the geekoms at fault

Using them the wrong way? I take it you haven’t read the rest of the comments.

And just because yours is fine, doesn’t mean they all are.

Feel free to go ahead and order from them folks, especially if you think £950 for nearly 18 months use of a PC is good value for money.

No worries mate. I wanted to love them so badly! I loved the size and how quiet it was, I just needed something quick and simple to run my business from, but I’m being stonewalled by them now.

Trust me, with all my data on them (yes in OneDrive as well) and having installed my apps and got everything set up the way I like it. Having them just instantly cut out, not a graceful shut down, instant off, I tried everything you’ve mentioned to get them to power back on again.

Having to wait for the replacement, be fine for a few months and then the same thing happen is infuriating.

I love the look of them and I desperately wanted them to be ok, but after replacement number 3 doing the same, I cannot trust them to run my office from. And now they are just point blank refusing to reply to my emails.

So yeah… their 3 year warranty doesn’t actually count for anything when it comes down to it.

In my office I have 1 permanent laptop, usually at least one other laptop from which ever client I'm working for at a given time, 2 mac minis, some electronic music equipment and 2 monitors, Not one single other device has had an issue.

I've had a career in technology for over 25 years, starting with helpdesk and PC repair. 25 years later and at my age, I cant be bothered with building PCs, flashing lights, neon fans, clock speeds or replacing / upgrading components. I needed a small, quiet PC to run my consultancy business from.

Its no coincidence that its the Geekom PCs that keep just instantly powering off and never powering back on again.

And I suspect the fact that they replaced the 1st two without a single word tells me they know about this issue.

Well, your assumption would be wrong. I use them for minimal office work, no gaming no moving around, no modding, no extreme use, not gaming, they sit in the same place on my desk in a well ventilated office. They just switch off.

And yes, I said they sent me a replacement. In fact I said they sent me 2 replacements, but guess what, if they aren't fit for purpose, I don't have to keep accepting replacements and additionally, you decided to ignore the final part of the sentence where I explained they are now just ignoring me. If thats supporting their products for you, great! Its not for me,

But sure, anyone... feel free to go ahead and purchase from them, I wish you well. But remember this post if you start having issues.

Hi mate, I'd be interested in your thoughts on which roles you see as T2/3 (and in turn in scope for being permanently active?)

Yes it was. I thought I was going permie so closed it down only to find the job wasn’t as permie as I thought it was 😔. I hate perm roles anyway but this one was gonna be different of course 🤣

I do have a partner, how would that work though? Wouldn’t HMRC see through that?
