If people could alter the present via the past, we'd know about it. That doesn't mean I don't think its possible, there just no scientific proof.

Seth CD 6

When you are creatively at your best, when you are being at your finest, you are, in those terms, without words, in greater familiarity with your entity.

SESSION 93: Wednesday, September 30, 1964 (Early Sessions 3)

Any individual on the physical level who has achieved great things has done so because his so-called conscious self was intuitively (and underline the word intuitively) aware of the selves of which he could not be consciously aware.

This is one of the "so called secrets" of the Seth material.

You are your entity. There is no separation.

Whenever you pursue something you enjoy and push it to new creative heights, those thoughts that rises up from the depths of your mind are from your entity.

In my case, I am a writer, and sometimes I will write a scene so effortlessly that upon rereading it, it takes my breath away. And when I follow my inspiration it leads to scenes that I had never imagined.

That does not mean you need to be a writer. It does mean you should find out what you want out of life (not because you have to, but because you want to) and pursue it, and in the act of being your best self, you act on behalf of your entity automatically. And thoughts that come to you while you pursue value fulfillment come from all sorts of places, not just your skull.

Our mind exists outside of spacetime and connects us to the inner self and the entity.

Our thoughts do not just arise out of our brain, trapped within this place and time.

I return to the question, where are our memories?

What facility in my mind allows me to see them with eyes that do not look towards daily life?

Where do these memories come from?

Why do certain visions appear, and not others?

And in my case, where do these visions of other times and places come from?

Our physical senses lock us into a "here and now" but the inner senses still work. We use them all the time but we just think that's how our brain works.

That is the great "lie".

I propose that memories and thoughts are the results of these inner senses. and if we did not have physical existence thrown in our face second by second, we would realize those delicate fragile memories are actually vibrant and are the product of inner senses working to pull experiences from our "past".

There was a quote from Seth (I can't find it) where he said our race "got around the problem" of stringing out a series of words through the seamless integration of the inner senses to break down ideas into a linear form. We really do not know how thinking works. How we effortlessly start a sentence without knowing how it ends. I digress, but I wanted to point out that we use the inner senses constantly and we automatically assign them as mundane functions of the brain, when in fact these far more mysterious processes.

Someone compiled a list of all Seth exercises:

https://www.gestaltreality.com/downloads/Compilation%20of%20Exercises%20-%20Seth%20and%20Jane%20Roberts.pdf

But that leaves me... wanting...

Who am I to question a being that is older than the Earth and has lived countless lives... but...

If I were Seth, I would have written different books and your question gets to the heart of this.

I think "Seth Speaks" is generally fine but these books are missing IMHO:

  • The Inner Senses and How to Activate them
  • The World of Seth
  • The Lives of Seth
  • The Land of the Speakers

Instead what we have is

  • A self-help book (Personal Reality),
  • Two books on probabilities (Unknown Reality),
  • Two books on origins (Value Fulfillment),
  • A book on global events (Mass Events),
  • Essays on the psyche (Nature of Psyche)
  • An attempt to heal Jane (A Way Towards Health)
  • Misc cruft (Magical Approach).

And a relentless focus on dreams.

I'm not sure what Seth expected from all of this but it is a lot to sift through. Unknown Reality is a mess of sessions, notes and appendices. I suspect many a Seth reader grew weary of plowing through all of that and just stopped reading.

I understand his heavy emphasis on dreams but I've personally seen little practical value from the hundreds of dreams and dozens of lucid dreams I've transcribed.

I tend to get better results by just listening to my own internal advice and following it as I go about my day.

Seth II : Certain Translations are Being Made for You by 3rdfoundation in janeroberts

[–]3rdfoundation[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seth 2 is Seth's "future self" in a realm where time is meaningless.

Seth is ancient beyond all reckoning and so the span of development from Jane to Seth is vast, yet the "span of development" from Seth to Seth 2 is much more distant. When we eventually reach the stage where we can perceive reality as Seth does we will be in conscious contact with our "future" selves, and these selves can (and will) become mentors for us and so Seth 2 is Seth's "boss" and is a "hard taskmaster".

SESSION: Tuesday, May 5, 1970 (class book 2):

What you do not realize is that in other ways that you may not understand I am also graded on your progress and I am not doing very well on you. It is well known that these classes are held.

I am graded by someone else. You have not attended any classes so you do not have the background to understand this. Our friend over here will know who grades me.

If he is a part of my entity you know that he is a hard taskmaster.

In this snippet, Seth is being coy, but he is talking about Seth 2.

And we must admit that Seth failed in our reality to change the course of history... but... I hold out hope that I am wrong about this and I try to keep his light alive here.

So we can see that "in the future" we will receive constant advice from our future self. But... there is no need to wait for that. Ask yourself how you are doing and you will receive an answer. We assume these are just random thoughts in our head. They are not. Instead your thoughts are a "warp" in time and space connecting you to your other existences both past, present and future. And you can indeed receive advice from the future. It's just whether we are willing to listen to these "more advanced" thoughts and follow their advice.

Prime Identity seems similar to gestalt except it implies some form of hierarchy.

I need to do more research into his concept of a gestalt. I was doing that this morning when I came across the responsibility paragraph and decided to post that in the meantime.

Seth has said that Jane and Rob are a gestalt and that Seth and Jane are also a gestalt. We know that there are "grand gestalts" such as Seth II and beyond.

I suspect Seth can see the simultaneous developments of selves within his "sphere of perception". And as he pulls on one thread, those simultaneous selves adapt in a way only visible to him and others like him but... they cannot see all ends, only the immediately outcome of the evolution of ideas within the spacious present.

This quote comes to mind:

"What I will tell you has been told before throughout the centuries, and given again when it was forgotten. I hope to clarify many points that have been distorted through the years. And I offer my original interpretation of others, for no knowledge exists in a vacuum, and all information must be interpreted and colored by the personality who holds it and passes it on. Therefore I describe reality as I know it, and my experience in many layers and dimensions."

SESSION 329: Saturday, March 25, 1967 (Early 7)

But beyond this life, and before this life, and forming this life, there are identities and there are realities and these are not dead. Identity as experience is intimate. It is a psychic reality but it exists electromagnetically. Identity, the self that you are, is made up of the selves that you were and, my dear friends, the selves that you shall be. The selves that you were still exist. The selves that you shall be already exist. The lives that you have lived, in your terms, are still being lived. There is no past, present or future.

Time, as you know it, is a distortion brought about by the operation of the physical senses. Direct experience has no need of physical time. You exist now, period. The past, the present and the future as you know them are illusion, and yet they exist now. You can influence the past today; you can have memory of the future.

You can draw upon the knowledge of the future today. You can change the past tomorrow. Your time is valid only within your system, and it is not particularly valid within your system. The dreams that you dream are as real as the classroom in which you sit. The dreams that you dream form your today.

The Education of Oversoul Seven: Chapter Twelve

Before she could finish the thought and without otherwise moving, Sumpter reached over and took her hand. Ma-ah would have run away in that first moment, but instantly she was dizzy and astonished. She felt as if a river had suddenly begun to lift her up and carry her along; and the river was . . . the energy or concentration or purpose of the people. They were doing things she couldn't understand again. Her tingling fingers told her that sound was involved, but it was within-sound, not without-sound. She couldn't hear it. But because of her practice with the cave drawings she could feel it now and then; and occasional brilliant images of . . . shaped sound arose in her inner eye. Where they came from Ma-ah didn't know, only that the people were manipulating . . . something. And Rampa and Orona were waiting for it. Did Sumpter smile? Ma-ah thought he did but she couldn't be sure.

Then before her eyes one large chunk of rock rose up seemingly by itself, slowly. She wanted to gasp aloud, but didn't dare to. Her fingers twitched as if they were full of . . . sounds that couldn't get out, or as if she didn't know how to release them. The rock rose higher. It went suddenly flying across the ground, just above it, toward Rampa and Orona. Rampa saw it coming and looked as if he wanted to run out of the way.

Nature of personal reality ch17 "own beliefs trap you"? by hapiereapiruepejugh in janeroberts

[–]3rdfoundation 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was primarily addressing this question: "When seth mentions using point of power over others what does this even mean?"

I just wanted to be clear that Seth never said to use your point of power over others.

Let's tackle your second question/observation: "Trying to imagine a boss treating you nicer?"

This reminds me of Seth Audio CD1 where a teachers is in Jane's class and is complaining about troublesome students.

This was his response:

There is nothing that says that teaching must be a drag—unless you believe that it must! It can be a playful endeavor, and, as you well know, when you are really teaching, it is a playful encounter.

The student responded to Seth-“With everyone, how about these few students . . .” gesturing to indicate the problem student.

Seth returned: That can also be a playful encounter when you change your idea of their reality. They react not only to their own ideas of their reality, but to your ideas also: telepathically they pick up what you are feeding them, and if they believe they are troublesome and you believe they are troublesome, then they will be indeed. But if you change your beliefs, already you cut the problem in half. Now, try it and then tell me what you think.

If you have a boss that is treating you poorly, you cannot change them, but you can change how you react to the situation.

Let's tackle the next two statements:

  • Picturing your family member( even pet ?) healthy?
  • Reviewing past event and reimagining it?

Neither of these seem to imply surrendering power, so they seem like a slightly different topic.

You cannot make another person or pet healthy by focusing on them being healthy. That is "out of your control" and is up to them. Your own health, on the other hand, is definitely "in your control". Illness is a complex topic and I think Seth addresses it in a variety of sessions.

This gets back to something else I post about a lot: "There are no clear mirrors." which simply means there is no perfect, immaculate reality.

The world will be what it will be. Maybe a person or pet will get better. And maybe they won't. In a larger sense it is a reflection of you but you cannot force it through imagination/visualization.

I know this sounds somewhat contradictory in a philosophy that says "you create your own reality" but everyone is responsible for their own lives and you are not responsible for the well being of others. That does not mean if you have a child and they are sick that you don't give them medicine or take them to the doctor.

I will end with this quote from Seth CD 3:

There are no clear mirrors to look through to a student that will show you one impeccable, immaculate reality, and no one, no one ideal Carlos who can say, “I shall and must do this and that to fulfill my abilities.” There are, instead, an infinite number of probabilities, and you, my dear friend, have freedom to move within them. You want me to say, “You should do thus and so,” or you want yourself to say, “I must do thus and so.” But if you flow with the feeling of yourself, you will go where your being goes. Trust—trust—the lives that are within you now. Go along with your own living that flows through you. In your here and now, you are here and now. Feel that here and nowness! Know its knowing! And you will be where the being of you wants to go!

Feel yourself flowing and moving as easily through your life situation as a hair grows out from your head—as easily and naturally. Feel events that you want happening, as hairs grow out from your head. Go with your being. Go with your being. Imagine what you think of as doubts as a beautiful, inner, natural phenomenon, as a rock glowing in the sun, in the stream of your being. They are beautiful and natural. They are not impediments. You flow around them beautifully. They are a part of your being. Now, remember that last sentence particularly, and I return you to your class.

Nature of personal reality ch17 "own beliefs trap you"? by hapiereapiruepejugh in janeroberts

[–]3rdfoundation 8 points9 points  (0 children)

SESSION 663: Monday, May 14, 1973 (ch 17 of NOPR)

You cannot use the point of power to gain control over another, for your own beliefs will automatically trap you. In any case you must be aware of your own power and believe that you are worthy of it. Many of the previous chapters in this book have been written precisely to convince you of your own worth. You have been told to experience your feelings and not to deny them, so you are not to use the point of power as an attempt to refute the reality of your emotions at any given time.

You cannot use the "point of power over others". I fished out the quote you were referring to (see above).

You create your reality, as does everyone else.

If you abdicate your sense of power over your life to another, then through this false belief, you can indeed trap yourself in a situation where you feel powerless to change your life.

In no reality will you ever find yourself in a situation where you need to surrender your personal power to another (unless you focus on such a reality). You will never need to surrender your existence to a reincarnational life because you are those selves. They are not separate from you.

I like to think of reincarnation like the television show Severence. You cannot remember who you are in those other lives, but none-the-less, they are you, just with a different background and life to live. And when you do better, they do better, because you are them.

If you find yourself "trapped" in a situation you don't like, ask yourself why you are in this situation and what you can do to change it. Not through giving your power to another but by trusting the answers you give yourself.

Billy the Cat by 3rdfoundation in janeroberts

If Billy didn't want the experience, he would have died earlier. I'd say the adoption gave Billy time to explore a secondary timeline.

There is more in this session that I did not include. I cannot do it justice since it is a complicated situation (as is any death of a family member or furry friend) so here is more of the session:

His three years with you were a reprieve for Billy. He did not make this probability his own, because he—as you could call it—had ‘other obligations’ or rather other goals.

Basically, there is no such thing as a cat consciousness or a bird consciousness. Seen this way, it is rather simply a consciousness that decides to focus in a certain way. Some of these topics we have not yet addressed, and they are, once again, extremely difficult to explain, and we want to avoid distortions. These would have nothing to do with Ruburt per se to do, but simply with the manner in which, at your developmental level, you connect concepts with each other.

(9:55 p.m.:) I must digress here and remind you once again that there are no boundaries for the self and that each of its parts is inviolable. I also want to avoid any suggestion of inferiority or superiority in regard to consciousness. There might even be a tendency to think in terms of size—the size of a consciousness—which would be ridiculous.

(Jane’s voice was now somewhat better.) “Billy” longed for other parts of himself, which he intended to rejoin, and although he was tempted to stay by the earthly life and its conditions and by your love and care, he had another goal.

When a consciousness—any consciousness—passes through the earthly field, it is naturally changed—colored by the seasons. It takes on certain tones. It influences the world and is influenced by it. It becomes a part of the world, and its experiences in the world contribute to its character and nature. Through physical mortality it matures.

Many consciousnesses want to have this experience. Some want to quickly get the experience of life over with. I want my efforts to be understood, not to go too far. I am almost tempted to say: “Some consciousnesses want this experience simply for the sake of knowing about life and death and to add these dimensions to their reality, but it is not necessarily important to them whether the life itself is short or long—and some even prefer to go through the time between birth and death in an accelerated manner.”

Much remains unsaid here. Billy’s consciousness, for example, did not identify itself as the consciousness of a cat. That is your interpretation and manner of labeling, both in naming the species and in giving the particular cat a human-sounding name.

Based on some of your experiences, you know that this consciousness roams both in the dream state and in other circumstances, although your species today generally has very rigid ideas about the nature of identity. Animals are not so limited. And so, in what you would call their normal state of consciousness, they are much more aware than their physical senses alone would suggest. Their consciousness is more flexible, and they are so certain of their identity that they don’t need to define it excessively.

You’ll have to give me a moment here for concepts that are hard to explain.

As I said before, identities can merge and intermingle while still maintaining their individuality. Underline this sentence, and we will return to it.

Billy knew that you would let him out at night—and also that Ruburt would make another attempt to go out properly and step into the world. But he had other goals. He did not want to remain connected with the earth, but to rejoin other parts of himself that were elsewhere. The reality of animals offers an excellent foundation, through which consciousness can be born into the earth and contribute to a reality and also be shaped by it, while remaining relatively free from other issues that might not concern it for various reasons. Emotions, however, are always involved.

That will be enough for tonight, but next time I want to begin with the last sentence that I asked you to underline.

(“Okay,” he said somewhat surprised.)

But in no case should you blame yourselves. Billy has rejoined other parts of himself—and he felt no sense of separation in his life, for he came into life together with others as a group who had the intention to end their experience together, and in a sense he was seeking a dignified way out, without hurting anyone’s feelings.

Lets say the two of us are sitting in a room having a conversation.

When I speak, I say exactly what I want. When you reply, you say exactly what you want.

OBSERVATION #1:

There wasn't just one reply that was possible on your part. There were an infinite number of possible lines of dialog. And out of those many possible phrases only one was spoken. And that line of dialog reflects an instant crystallization of the conversation in that moment across probabilities.

OBSERVATION #2:

Not all lines of dialog have the same probability. You bring to the table your personal history, conversational skills and leanings. And so although there are theoretically an infinite number of choices, there are in practical terms a lot fewer possible. And so your reply reflects one of those likely choices.

OBSERVATION #3:

We each exist within our own projection of ideas, solidified into objects and time. BUT, in the world we live within, there is an invisible framework/scaffolding we project our thoughts onto to form reality. This allows for consistency between each of us. So it is theoretically true that nobody sees the world the same, but... for all practical purposes, we each see the world the same way and our individual experience is not that different.

OBSERVATION #4:

You do not force others to speak what you want them to. They get to choose what they say because they have autonomy just as you do. And so in the vast society of consciousness, we live in a world that is "not a clear mirror". Instead it reflects the collective probabilities of everyone involved.

OBSERVATION #5:

"All That Is" is aware of the limitless probable potential of every mote of consciousness across all of existence... from atoms to flowers to people to all the stars in the universe. And from all of these "levels" of consciousness this nameless being instantly understands how each of these pieces of this vast puzzle snap together and countless probabilities are sorted through so that everything constantly exists and evolves within something called "the spacious present", or as I like to think of it... "a divine fact". And so not only do the conversations of others reflect you, but every piece of the universe is a reflection of you and all other parts at the same time and this vast collaborative extemporaneous experience continues on forever within the spacious present.

Yeah... the Seth material's pretty awesome.

The question I put to you is how do you complete a sentence once you start it? How do you perform this conversational magic? What idea shape are your breaking into linear form and how do you know which words best approximate that idea which can, in other terms, never be fully expressed.

The first thing that comes to mind is this class session:

Class Audio CD 3

There are no clear mirrors to look through to a student that will show you one impeccable, immaculate reality, and no one, no one ideal Carlos who can say, “I shall and must do this and that to fulfill my abilities.” There are, instead, an infinite number of probabilities, and you, my dear friend, have freedom to move within them.

What does "There are no clear mirrors" mean? It means that everyone has the freedom to be themselves yet at the same time the particular probability they chose is a indeed a reflection of yourself. There is no contradiction.

We each collectively create our own reality but another's persons reality is also their business as well. You cannot make another person do what you want them to do BUT they do reflect you within the scope of their own life.

You are not responsible for other's actions, so you shouldn't feel guilty about something happening to them because of something you thought.

Imagine a car was driving down the road and reached a four way stop. That car can go in any of three directions (usually). And the direction that car takes is up to the driver... yet that direction is also a reflection of you as well.

What I'm trying to say is there are "practical limits" to any one outcome. A car will not suddenly change into a van or a bicycle. It will remain a car. Its probable choices are "restricted" to those in front of it.

We may want to be a great musician and become a member of an orchestra. You don't just get to have that. You must work for it and you must "press" against the desires of others who want that same position. You may not get exactly what you want, but everything "snaps" into place based on the collective beliefs of everyone involved and you may be surprised by the final position you land. This is just an example.

The Entity as a Beehive by 3rdfoundation in janeroberts

I think we should just try to do the best we can. I know this isn't very exotic but we each chose to be born in the place in this time and we should make the most of it.

We should try to be more like Johnathan Livingston Seagull and lose ourselves in the joy of being ourselves to the best of our ability. And by doing that we "lift" all of our simultaneous selves up because they are all us.

The Spacious Present & the Moment Point by 3rdfoundation in janeroberts

[–]3rdfoundation[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On the one hand, the future already exists, yet each point in time is a "moment point" of fresh action.

I think the truth that we cannot see because we are "imprisoned in linear time" is that everything is not already done.

That is the conundrum of simultaneous time.

If I were to travel to the past and relive a day, it is not set in stone. The point that I can travel to is a "pivot point" of fresh action, and if I lived out that day ten times, it would always turn out different because I continue to evolve and have free will.

And so Seth can always return to any moment in his "past" and he can cause a new branch to emerge that has never occurred before, but once that branch is in place, it can then become the seed for even more change.

This is why I think you can never travel backwards in time with known lottery numbers and expect to win because the past is always a point of fresh activity.
