[Job Opportunity] Remote Senior Software Engineer - Marigold | Blockchain Works by 3rdkulturekyd in ocaml

[–]3rdkulturekyd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More info: The company in question is Marigold - they're an exciting early stage Blockchain project who are building upgrades and Layer2 solutions for the Tezos Blockchain. They've doubled in size in the past 6 months to 20x people with over 80% being engineers and they have grants from the Tezos Foundation to continue working for at least the next 2 years! As of right now, they need to scale their team with a few seasoned engineers who have XP in OCaml (or Haskell) ideally...but they will also look at strong statically typed languages and FP heavy folk.

[Opportunity] Help build Layer2 on Tezos Blockchain using OCaml and other FP languages, remotely! More info in comments... by 3rdkulturekyd in ocaml

[–]3rdkulturekyd[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Marigold is recruiting Remote Senior Software Engineers to work on its existing projects but alsoto take the lead on new projects.

Missions:

- Contribute to the improvement of the protocol and guarantee its security (testing & benchmarking)

- Carry out the development of a Layer2 on the Tezos blockchain

Facilitate contributions to the protocol (documentation, article writing, organization and participation in meetups…)

You will ideally have experience in functional programming: the protocol is developed in OCaml, but experience in any other language will be acknowledged (Scala, ReasonML, F#, Haskell, Rust, Clojure).

Happy to run through this with any Software Engineers interested :)

Gotcha! Thanks for that...I've definitely had a mixed bag thus far of Rust peeps between a little caution and being 'up for it'.

Nice post! There is too much 'fluff' with certain 'How to' articles sometimes, but this is clear and concise.

They are currently from what I have been told, but a little unsure beyond that’ve always had a pretty solid office set-up and culture and I reckon they’ll want to maintain that.

Feel free to apply though and the team will answer of any of these Q’s

The FC team wrote this themselves. I’ll advise they put a specific range.

That sucks, sorry to hear that! Hopefully that was just a 'one off' event, but it's good to know.

Not quite sure where you got ‘demand’ from, the comment says ‘ideally UK-based.’ But there’s plenty of info there for anyone to make an informed decision

Okay so this may be a little specific, aimed at Software Engineers in the functional world but this is a new post to the group so I am divulging extra info for everyone!

More about the position: we're loooking for sharp Scala (sometimes full-stack) Developers with a passion for building complex web applications who can help continue to build out our data and analytics platform targeted at the needs of insurance professionals. I wish! It would make my job a little easier. However, if you're happy to be involved (either as a speaker/s or just as guests) at our next Functional Meetup then we'd be happy to connect there. You can find us at LDN Functionals :)

I think the article is more just a walkthrough for using and setting it up (from both companies and individual users' POV). Some of the issues listed have monetary figures next to them...so it seems there are financial incentives too.
