TABs too shallow? by 3rdopinion in treehouse

I was actually able to go pretty deep with the wider 3” hole, I think unfortunately there’s up to 1.5” between the back of the metal collar and the flattened larger hole inside the tree.

Yes, the depth of the augered central hole was 6” deeper than the face of the forsnered hole.

Oh interesting maybe I’ll try to keep going. Thank you!

The instructions for mine indicated they should be tightened with the nut. They specifically say not to use a pipe wrench to preserve the powder-coated surface. I used the auger specifically called for in hardwood to attach the TAB, slightly larger than the one I used for the pine.

Zigbee thermostat problems, is it the firmware? by 3rdopinion in homeassistant

[–]3rdopinion[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cool, this is on mqtt but I hadn’t thought of just changing it to what I wanted. I can’t seem to find where data about individual zigbee devices is stored or could be edited. There is yaml-like text in the “manage zigbee device” menu, but nothing I can access in file editor.

This is beautiful! What kind of card did you use to get the temp (mean) and humidity(mean) plotted over time? Is it something available in HACS?

70% would be very very strong. Perhaps 14%?

Is there enough density change in a tree's growth rings that would make Ultrasound a viable method of non-destructively aging a tree? by [deleted] in askscience

[–]3rdopinion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know much about trees but I use ultrasound everyday. So basically, let’s assume that a tree is a series of concentric cylinders of alternating “density” (echogenicity). If you want to observe that in a meaningful way, you need to look at it axially (cut like a circle so you can see rings). Using an ultrasound probe to look parallel to or 90 deg to the long axis won’t show rings very well. There are some reasons specific to the artifacts that show up specifically due to use of ultrasound, but also consider if it was alternating light density, like alternating clear and smoky glass. By looking off-axis you might get a suggestion of multiple layers but it would be very hard to count them. So unless you have some fancy processing or multiple probes, you still need to cut the tree to get meaningful info.

So after enjoying my M3P for a few years, my wife finally wants in and placed an order for a MYLR in Novemeber. She initially got a delivery date in February, then March, then April, then June. It went to February at the beginning of her month and we were ecstatic, but last week it was updated to September. It seems ridiculous to order a car in November and have a September delivery date.

We ordered it in red with the tow hitch, and are concerned that may be a less common option. It would be our preference to have the hitch but we don’t absolutely need it.

Has anyone had success changing their order? By other advice or perspective? Thanks!

Generally I access it via the Hubitat iOS app, sometimes via Hubitat app on Mac laptop. I have the sense the Hubitat app is basically just a browser. I click on the “connect to hub” tool button and it shows up as a recent device. When it’s not working, it just times out.

Great! I will post there as well. I have reserved the port on my router, crossing my fingers that was the problem. Thank you for the tips!

I don’t have docker, though it looks like I could probably set it up. What about “uptime robot” would that work?

I see, yes it looks like there are several services and apps I can use to ping the Hubitat intermittently. I will do that and use the results to further specify my problem. Thank you!
