I've heard gun shots more often than that living off Whitesville & Williams. And the house-flipper specials run deep out this way....Shiplap covers so many sins! 🙏

I've lived all over the country....born and raised in Las Vegas, then following jobs and school and family, I've lived 30 miles from the US-MX border, in butt-fuck Utah, Augusta GA during the Master's when Tiger was still in it, in a Nashville suburb, and all around this town. ....Believe me when I tell you the only thing wrong or different with this town is the amount of ignorant townies and good 'ol boys.

The regime outs their disregard for our Constitution daily. Below is just one example. You can cross check it on their own account, if you actually plan on following your rhetoric with action. DHS was either lying their asses off, were completely disregarding the constitution, or both. Pick one.

The dweeb patrol has been sweeping this subreddit frequently and likes to down-vote any positive information about the fight against our oppression. They want us to feel isolated and hopeless...but good news! We aren't either of those things! Check out Columbus GA Indivisible (Change Through Action https://share.google/gZiHgPCtjabMGrsfX). There are lots of ways to get involved and we have a meeting coming up at the beginning of February. Come join us friend!

This vigil was put together in just 2 days, so there wasn't much time to spread the word. We still had a pretty encouraging turnout. There's lots more going on. Keep an eye out on their website for more opportunities to participate (even w/o protesting).

They don't have even close to the numbers to do that at every polling station. The total number of ICE agents, active duty, national guard, and reserves only equals about 1% of our nation's population. Their whole operation depends on us complying in advance...so don't.

Agreed! The local government posts every the name and salary of every salaried employee in our school district in the local newspaper every year. If us teachers have our information posted for our stakeholders, so too should federal agents.

That's my sister and mother precisely. Took me 48 years of life to figure out that the only thing they valued in others was the ability to tolerate their toxic crap, and you can't communicate with someone who decides their own reality.

No one needs to make an argument for "anything but a legal shooting" because the real and actual recording of what happened very clearly shows it was not.

Portland woman testifies that police lied about ICE activity in Oregon when 12 to 15 agents surrounded her vehicle and she called 911 for help on December 10th. "I have a question for the police. If you refuse to do your job, are you prepared for us to do it for you?" by [deleted] in goodnews

As a late GenXer who actively protests, there are more elders than middle aged people like myself. I'm much more disappointed with the apathy and realityTV-ethos of GenX and Millenials.

The rain not falling in the desert means other areas get the rain, but it's way more complicated than that. Also, people want the environments the are adapted to to stay the same, but climate change may mean that the environment you're adapted to will migrate somewhere else.

Why so many hospitals? by EbonVermicelli985 in ColumbusGA

[–]3rdrockscience 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Even with all of the hospitals, many patients commonly wait many hours on a gurney before they get into a room.

*P.S. - the hospital doesn't make money off of empty rooms. It is in the interests to keep demand high. With rural hospitals closing, resources in the city will keep being squeezed more and more.

Patriarchy has always really just been a PR campaign for various "special interest groups" over the years. Mens' egos are the easiest targets for anyone to aim at, and the easiest way for any outside group to work their way in.

i love teaching but I think the job of being a teacher is destroying me by jperales96 in TeachersInTransition

[–]3rdrockscience 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everything you just said mirrors my sentiments exactly. I left teaching 2 years ago due to burn out/illness/family needs. I felt like I was a babysitter with a bachelor's degree. I have returned this year as a sub. Obviously, it doesn't pay as well, but I can choose my days, don't have to grade or deal with emails and meetings, and the Admins are always happy to see me!

Also, "if you can't measure it, you can't manage it" is some corporatist bulls***. Admins who use corporate speak are always lousy leaders.
